We have some great things lined up for this month, but why spoil the surprise and show you everthing at once? Check back, we'll be adding new events, news and information every day!
Week 1 - Collaboration
The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation partnered with the Conquer Cancer Foundation of ASCO in 2011 through funding both the Young Investigator Award in Cholangiocarcinoma Research and the Long Term International Fellowship (LIFe) Award.
The National Cancer Institute (NCI) has defined a rare cancer as one with an incidence of less than 40,000 Americans per year. It is unclear how many new cases of bile duct cancer are diagnosed every year. Medical reports vary widely in reporting the incidence, with numbers ranging between 3,000/year to 10,000/year in the US.
Help us create awareness this month by changing your profile picture on Facebook, Skype or whatever networking site you use to an image that represents Cholangiocarcinoma. See below for image options and directions on downloading.
Downloading directions:
1. Right click on the image you want.
2. Choose "Save picture as".
3. Name the image.
4. Save it to a folder on your computer or your desktop.
Join us in the pursuit of the CURE! There are numerous ways that you can volunteer your time to assist in increasing the Collaboration, Understanding, Research, and Education of bile duct cancer. Opportunities for volunteering can be found on our website: cholangiocarcinoma.org/volunteer.htm
Globally, cholangiocarcinoma is the second most primary hepatic malignancy, and the incidence of cholangiocarcinoma is actually increasing.

February 29 - Rare Disease Day
Start making plans, because February 29th is Rare Disease Day! A rare or "orphan" disease affects fewer than 200,000 people in the United States. There are more than 6,000 rare disorders, and when taken in the aggregate, these rare disorders affect approximately 25 million Americans. Cholangiocarcinoma is considered a rare disease. Start planning on how you can get involved on Rare Disease Day at the end of this month.
