My guess would be to take him where he has been as they will have all his records and can call his doctor if needed. Good girl and be strong!

Lynn, PLEASE...if the nausea and pain is not better by tonight I would take him to ER. You are in charge now and know best. The Zofran works pretty quickly. He should not be in that kind of pain and perhaps needs to be seen!

george will ear grits,but only a few small spoonfull,he didnt drink the milk shake 3 sips at most,once it got to his stomache he said it hurt to bad,anything he takes in,even water,he says it hurts.I got him some boost,so,maybe later when he gets uo,he will try it.Im very scared now,hes worse with the pain today and nausea,everyday seems to get worse,i said to him,let me take you to the hospital,he said no,baby,i'll be ok once the nausea medication starts working.....Thank you all so so much from the bottom of my heart for all your replys and kind words...Lynn

Lynn...I agree with Lainy. Try small (very small) bites of foods easy to digest. Same goes for liquids. I attended a seminar on digestive issues; it had been mentioned, small, easy to digest meals, movement thereafter is very important and at times it might be best to eat while standing up. With time you will know what works best.

Lynn, not so sure milk products that good for Nausea. I would suggest white soda, tea, clear broth, toast and perhaps soft scrambled eggs. Work his way slowly upwards until he can digest more. That nausea is awful and Zofran should help.

marions,yesterday he had a bowel movement,he dosnt walk around much,just from bed to recliner to front porch,the nausea meds he just started taking today,so hopefully they work,its just one,zulfran,he took it a few minutes ago,but started hurting in his belly so he went to lay down.

Lynn....has he had any bowel movements? Also pain meds can cause constipation. Is he walking around a bit? I

Hi Lynn,

Sorry to hear about George's nausea. My dad had that too quite a lot and it is unfortunately very common. For my dads nausea, he tried a wide variety of and combinations of varying different meds, some with better success than others. How long has George been taking the anti nausea meds for and are the ones he is taking right now the first type that he has tried? If so, it could be worth discussing this with his doctors to see if they could try a different type or even combination of meds. Just a thought.

Hi marions,the reason George can't eat is because of nauseous.he got medication for that,and tried to drink a milk shake,but couldnt'he said it hurt his belly.He is on pain meds.thanks for the hugs.

Lynn....do you know why it is that your husband does not want to eat? Does he feel bloated or is he nauseous? Is he taking something for his pain?

Lynn, welcome to the forum. I am sorry that you had to find us.

Have you tried nutritional drinks like Ensure or Boost?

My wife was stented for 10 weeks before her Whipple surgery. She had trouble with most foods, but she was able to tolerate Ensure reasonably well. It's a complete nutritional drink, meaning it contains most nutrients that our bodies need.

I hope your husband is able to have the surgery. My best wishes to you both.

ADDED: If you are going to give Ensure a try, don't drink the entire bottle at once. It's just too much. Try one third of a bottle and see how it goes. If it tastes too sweet, add water.

Welcome to the site. Sorry you had to join us all but am glad that you have done so. You've come to the right place for support and help and you will get buckets of both from everyone here! I know that you will have questions that you want to ask so please feel free to ask them and we'll do what we can to help in answering them.

I hope that your husbands test resultgs come back good and that he is able to have the whipples surgery. My dad wasn't able to have surgery of any type but we have many members who they or their loved ones have had surgery and I know that they will share their experiences with you.

I know you say that you are in a daze and are trying to hold everything together right now. But please know that you are not alone now and that we are all here for you. We know what you are going through and we care. Please keep coming back here.
