I currently see Dr. Abou Alfa too, he's dealt with a lot of patients with cholangiocarcinoma. Such a funny guy and everyone in his office is so helpful. smile

Many consider him to be at the forefront of this field. However, my mom's second opinion had more to do with her chemo treatments and nothing to do with surgical oncology.

Good luck! And if they give you a long wait time to see him (or any oncologist really) definitely go the email route and drop him a line. It worked in getting my mom seen a little faster.

Although, my husband ultimately chose a different location for his resection he had been accepted for surgery by Dr. Fong at Sloan Kettering.  Dr. Fong is highly regarded by his peers and is known to be an outstanding physician.

In 2006 Dr. Fong did not make himself available for second opinions, something you might want to consider when contacting Sloan Kettering.  I suppose, it lays in the wording when making the initial contact by asking for an appointment all the while avoiding the request for a "second opinion".
