Percy and Carl
Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers now.
I'm a long term member of this web community - the people here have been so helpful to me when I was being treated for bile duct cancer. I check in regularly to see how everyone is getting onanne I keep you in my thoughts always.
I live in Dundrum in Dublin and I was treated by Justin Geoghegan and David Fennelly was my Oncologist of Vincent's private - feel free to call me at 2953546 or 087-6017539 and I'd be pleased to share my experience if you wish. I had a neuro endocrine tumor in the bile duct, which was diagnosed as CC initially (a common mistake). The tumor was successfully removed by way of a whipples operation. I also had precautionery surgery on my thyroid some months later. My treatment was very good and I recovered quickly and thankfully I've been well ever since.
It is so important to be confident in the treatment your mother receives and you are right to be concerned. A 2nd opinion may be in order - I know VHI offered this service at one stage.
Merry Xmas to you and all the Moderators on this great site.
Keep up the great work.
Happy Xmas to all of you from this side of the big pond.
Kris - what a character - she made such a big impression on all of us.
She will never be forgotten.
Thanks a mil.
Take care and keep up the great work you're doing.
I afraid I don't post often but I log in regularly to see how you are all getting on. I have not seen any updates from Maria for a while. Does anyone know how she is getting on.
To all our American friends wherever you reside.
Happy 4th of July.
From the other side of the pond.
It's so great to hear of your good news and prognosis. That's a great idea for a thesis.
I'm sorry to hear of this latest set-back. The treatment of CC is so complex with many twists and round-a-abouts. I'm pleased you have such a strong medical team and I look forward to hearing about their new plans for your sister.
My condolences to you and your family on this difficult time following the loss of your husband Dan.
I'm pleased you are happy with the care you're Dad is receiving at present. To put your mind at rest, I'd recommend you obtain a 2nd opinion. You may be with VHI or one of the other private insurers. VHI advertise a 2nd opinion service but I'm sure Quinn or Laya would also help.
Let us know how you get on.
I was treated at Vincent's. Justin Geoghegan was my surgeon and David Fennelly my Oncologist - both very experienced guys. I had a whipples op 2 years ago and I meet Justin for regular check- ups. This is such a rare cancer and having experienced medical staff is an absolute requirement. I would suggest that you contact Justin directly at 01-2614016 for a 2nd opinion.
Being an Advocate for your Dad is very stressful but remember there are many members here who are on the same journey only too willing to share their experience - so come back often.
My e mail is Gerry.firstname.lastname@example.org if you need any more info.
I'm from Dublin and have been a member of this family for a number of years now. I don't get to write often but I check in regularly to see how everyone is getting on. I was treated at St Vincent's. Let me know if you need any assistance/advice.
Welcome to this wonderful site and thanks for sharing your story.
Happy Thanksgiving day from this side of the pond.
Relax and enjoy.
You have been through a great deal and I'm sorry to hear your CCA is back. I had a whipples in December '09, which failed due to temporary pancreatitis but the 2nd attempt in May 2010 worked fine and I've been good since then. It's a major surgery which lasts about 4/5 hours. immediately after surgery I spent one day in ICU and then back to the ward for about 2 weeks before I was released home. After about 2 months recovery at home I went back to work.
Leakage from the cut line delayed my recovery in hospital, which I understand happens in about 20% of operations.
I keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
I am sorry to hear your Dad and good friend has passed on. My condolences to you and your family at this difficult time.
I'm so pleased with this good news. You have the stamina for the fight against CC and you will surely win this race.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Good luck next week.
