Hi Lainy!
Hi All!  I am Becky- I posted here about a year ago-then sidetracked.  It was exciting meeting Lainy and Ted- they are wonderful people!  I was diagnosed with CC in Feb/07.  I was given a dismal prognosis, like most, I didn't accept it- call me Cleo- queen of denial.    It is a small world with a very large faith network- and i am glad it is working-

I have gained quite a bit of weight lately.   Doc noticed, I said, DOc, i try, but with all this radiation in me, every time i go past the fridge, the fridge magnets pull me in!
That's my story and i'm sticking to it!

Daughter- i have quality of life- i work full time, even overtime during tax season, and go on weekend getaways, family get togethers- life is better than ever- with radiation- check out www.Y90support.org don't let Dad give up!

bile duct cancer can not really be seen on a PET too well,  they found mine when they opened me up to do surgery-otherwise it would have gone un notied- i am not trying to rain on your parade- on the contrary-i want everyone CURED!  You r hsubands name at this moment is NED, (No Evidence of Disease)  There is a big win right there!  The fact the PET didn't find anything elsewhere means there is no cancer elsewhere! YAY YAY- but it dones't cover the bile duct.  Andkeep getting bili checked every month to monitor for change.  I pray he really is cured.  I know prayer is a strong medicine.  Sending one your way.

for the liver tumor, havs your oncologist sugessted sirspheres or theraspheres radiation?   It has already shrunk my tumor AND killed off a great part of it!  My tumor spills out on to the liver form my bile duct- i hope that the radiation will spread into the bile duct!  Ask the oncologist or go to www.y90support.org-

michelle- so sorry fo ryour loss- my prayers and thoughts are with you

Terri- welcome- so sorry abour your loss-
progress?  hope

i think the cancer makes us tired which of course effects personality- i was always so bubbly- in fact, that was my nick name- bubbles-  so when i started to slow down- i assumed it was my age.  I choose to enjoy each day as it it was my last- i appreciate all- even a pretty bird, but i do have my poor little me days- then i kick myself in the $%@ and smile- you are ALL winners- just by being here- pat your selves on the back

i have already started using corning!  thanks for the link

carol-

cancercare has a great pdf on itching and rashes i hope this attached correctley

tahnks!  what about paper plates?

jeff- thanks for the info!  i am going to puerto penasco in 2 weeks- i will bask at the ocean and eat all sea veggies i can get my hands on- i switched to sea salt awhile back cuz i heard it was better- taste the same too!

Barb- you can email me at dslbelle@yahoo.com and I will give you a run down of the procedure if you like.

Tom- sirspheres are in resin beads, and theraspheres are in glass beads.  The quantity fo the dose is different also.  I have had two doses of sirs and 1 of thera- the reduction of my liver tumor is phenominal!  My tumor started in my bile duct and spilled out onto my liver and was a giant mass.  Depending on size and location, it has been known to make some eligible for a resection!   It is only liver mets and tumors

i was diagnosed with CC 2/5/7- I have had no chemo-only the spheres (little magic beads)  I work full time, feel great- and I'm  happy- actually CC has given me the insight i needed to really enjoy life

CC won't get me!  say it every day many times a day!

The American Pain Foundation has an excellent section that provides information, coping strategies and tools to help cancer patients and their caregivers understand the basics of pain management and better communicate with their doctors. You can access the site at www.painfoundation.org . Another excellent site for help with cancer pain management is www.cancer-pain.org .  Maybe it can give you some helpful ideas to discuss with your doc

A specialist you might want to contact is Dr. Lauren Shaiova.  I've attended several conferences and have had the opportunity to speak with her afterwards.  The one thing that I have heard her repeat at each is that effective pain management is widely available yet patients continue to be under-treated. Perhaps she would be able to provide some direction.  She is in New York.  You can reach her by email at:   lshaiova@gmail.com or lauren.shaiova@nychhc.org.
