Hi Percy,

My prayers are with you. I, too lost some of my hope after Lauren passed and I don't want to discourage others who have nothing but hope. This cancer sucks and takes too many people way too soon. I appreciate everything you have done to help others. May you rest comfortably. All the best to you and yours.

Love,
-Pam

I am so happy for you, Porter!!! You go, girl!!!!

Dear Michele,

I am so sorry to hear of your dear husband's passing. Try to find comfort that he is no longer suffering. I know that is easier said than done because you want him to be there with you and your children. I'm sure it will be dificult for all of you for a long time. Grief is a pain I wish none of us had to go through, but we must. I will pray that you all find peace and acceptance one day. Your husband will always be with all of you. Watch for and be open to the signs. I feel my daughter around me all the time. Love to all of you.

Hi LornaDoone,

I would also like to say congratulations on the successful surgery. My daughter, Lauren, was on many different chemos and Gem/Xeloda was one of them. She had been on Gem before in combination with other chemos and handled it well. She did get a little feverish and achy for a few days. The Xeloda was one of the toughest on her. It made her nauseous and her feet were very red and sore. We ordered special lotion for her from a company called Lindi and I massaged her feet a lot. Every chemo affects everyone differently. Kris didn't have nausea from Xeloda. We also contacted Genentech and got a huge discount on the prescription. It is well worth it to check out the website. I wish you and your boyfriend all the best.

Hugs,
-Pam

Hi Michelle,

It's nice to hear from you again. I remember when your mom passed and remember how beautiful her picture was. I hope things have gotten a little easier for you. Thank you for mentioning my Lauren. It's always nice to have a loved one remembered. I remember you were always sweet with your comments. I also follow Christopher's Facebook page. He is such a beautiful boy and it also breaks my heart that he has to go through so much. I hope this is not a trend with younger people getting this cancer. I wish nobody got this cancer!! I am at a loss as to what Christopher might need. I think a donation would probably be what they need the most. Take care, Michelle.

Love,
-Pam

Hi Porter,

I am happy you are doing so well. Lauren's ONC told her that if she was going to have a bad reaction to the oxaliplatin it would happen around the 7th time it was given. Well, on the 7th time, Lauren had a bad reaction where she turned beet red, got hives everywhere, and her throat started closing. The nurses knew what to do and got it under control. She couldn't have it after that. She had sensitivity to cold in her mouth and could only drink room temperature liquids for a few days after chemo. Just wanted you to know what to look for. Best of luck to you.

Hi Pat,

I would like to welcome you to this site. I am very sorry to hear about your husband. This cancer seems to creep up out of nowhere. I sure wish there was a way to diagnose it in the earliest stages. There are many wonderful people on this site that are always willing to help whether it be with medical advice or to just lend a supportive shoulder. I wish you and your husband all the best.

Hi Julie,

Welcome to this site, but also so sorry you had to. When I hear pump, I think of our moderator, Kris J. I know she has a pump implanted and can tell you all about it when she returns from her vacation. I wish you and your Mom all the best.

Dear Dee and Lou,

I am sorry you had a bad time with the doctor. I just wanted you to know that my daughter and son-in law are both doctors. I talk with my daughter almost every day and she is wonderful with her patients and often brings the sadness she sees home with her. Some doctors may be brilliant, but have no people skills when it comes to showing empathy. Luckily, my other daughter, Lauren, who had CC, had a surgeon and oncologist who were wonderful. Her surgeon was with us when she passed and cried along with us. He also drove four hours to attend her funeral and has told us recently that he still thinks of her daily. I am so sorry, Dee and Lou, that you have experienced the opposite and have bad feelings in general for doctors. It must be such an awful feeling to be treated in such a callous and uncaring way.

Love and hugs to you,
-Pam

Hi Judith,

I would also like to welcome you to this site. Your husband has made a decision and his wishes must be honored. My daughter, Lauren, was offererd surgery, something we never dreamed would be possible. She went for it wholeheartedly and sadly passed due to complications. The point is that she did what she wanted to and although we are so sad without her, we are happy that she was given a choice and hope. My heart goes out to you both.

Love,
-Pam

Hi Adjuster11,

If you wish to seek yet another opinion, you might want to speak to a wonderful liver surgeon at University of Michigan named Dr. Chris Sonnenday. He is very approachable and would answer an e-mail from you. You can mention my name (Pam Kunklier) if you should decide to do so. I wish you all the best.
