Thank you all, I have to say this site has given me a wealth of knowledge on this awful disease, I only wish I could have talked my mom into getting her second opinion sooner. There are to many doctors that do jot know enough about this disease.
I know her suffering has ended but mine has just begun. I will miss my nightly phone calls with her, her shoulder to cry on and her laughter and smile that could light up room. She was an awesome lady

Thank you all for the support you have given me over the last several months. Mom lost her Battle Saturday May 18th at 6:20, my entire family was at the home with her. I'm not sure how me and my siblings will survive without her, she was our Rock!!

She did try drinking the watered down boost but it comes back up. When she gets nauseated, everything comes back including water. She went two days without vomiting but today my sister said she is vomiting again. I hate to see her suffer like this.  There is no pattern of when she will get sick. It just comes with a force and she is so miserable.

Would that be Smart Water? If so I will see if I can find it. I didn't even think of it. Even if it just has potassium and electrolytes it would help.

I did speak to the Pharmacist and he just suggested that we dilute the Ensure  clear or boost breeze down but even with that she couldn't drink it..

Thank you so much!!

Susan

I' have purchased every type of nutritional drink possible, she refuses them because the drinks are sweet and that makes her nauseated. I did ask the nurse if there was anything that was flavor free but she couldn't think of anything.
The only juice I have found she can tolerate is white grape juice and even that bothers at times.

Hi Gavin, I did follow the link and thank you, it does help some to know what I should be looking for. Reading this does lead me to think possibly Mom has more time with us. There has been no black bile only water which is really about all she takes in. I'm just not sure how long a person can survive on water alone.

Thanks again,
Susan

Thank you all, she lives about 250 miles from me with my Aunt, my Aunt and Home hospice take care of her , I wish I could be with her more but I have to work. I took last week off to be with her but needed to return home this week. I did ask the hospice nurse if she could be over medicated but she said she didn't think she was , she thought she was just adjusting to the changes they had to make in her medications to get the pain under control. She just doesn't act herself and the change was so sudden.

Lainy, if you could please send that to me I would appreciate it.

Thank you all for your prayers they are needed and appreciated.

My mom is now in home hospice care, she was transferred to the hospice house two weeks because her pain was so bad, they believe she has a small bowel obstruction. They wanted to keep her a while but she wanted to go home so we brought her home last Tuesday. She eats next to nothing , maybe 1 cracker all day and drinks very little. friday night she started projectile vomiting and stays nauseated. She seems disoriented and I'm scared. Could it be she is being over medicated or is it most likely the cancer? I'm so worried , I don't know what to look for in the end stages, can someone please let me know their experiences ?
Thanks
Susan

Hi , mom got her results today there is no new cancer but the original site is not budging, it hasn't grown but it hasn't shrunk. If it doesn't shrink it can't be removed.... Dont get me wrong i am so thankful it hasn't spread  just still a little disappointed .

Christine , our moms will get results on the same day. I will be praying for both.
My mom like yours has a sense of peace while I feel like I've been punched in the stomach. Seems like many of us are in the same boat.

Yes smile I can say that I am thankful that mom is very well in her mind and these are decisions she can make for herself . I know it would be harder if I had to make them for her.

I wish I could be her care taker but she is in Savannah and I live in Atlanta, it's killing me to not be able to see her as much as I would like but I do spend most of my weekends with her. I wish she  would move here but she is happy where she is and doesn't want to leave. I am very fortunate to have many family members there that love her and help her but for me it's not the same, I feel so helpless not being there for her and not having the option to go because I must work,.

Thank you Lainey, this is making me crazy. We will not get the results of the PET scan until Thursday. It's going to be a long week!

My mom got her CT results and they show fluid around the liver and a thickening in the omentum, they have now decided they will do another PET scan on Monday.they also mentioned a lesion on her liver that is about 1 cm, has anyone had this problem before? If the cancer has spread to the omentum how is that treated? Obviously the chemo isn't working. Odd thing is that her original tumor site has had no change good or bad since the original diagnoses in July 2012.

Susan

They say there are no strictures, we did go for a second opinion at Emory in Atlanta. They recommended changing the chemo, to Cisplatin & Gemzar and extending 3 more months.
Susan

Thanks Marion, she takes softners daily but nothing seems to be helping. They say her duct is fully dialated but she always feels so bloated. I'm just looking for anything to give her relief.
Susan

My mom has had extreme problems with gas and gas pain. I was told this enzyme might help, has anyone taken it before? Did it help you ? Do you know of any side effects?

Her last scan was on December 21st , it showed really no changes from the first scan back in July. The Gas she had had had been very bad since her Gallbladder was taken out and the pain has been manageable with mild pain relievers  except when the gas gets more severe. .

I asked her last night if she had been having any problems with constipation and she she hadn't but she takes softness daily.
