I am trying to find a good surgeon to remove cancer from the distal bile duct. The surgery would remove part of the pancreas, bile duct and small intestine. Modified Whipple? When I call around, no one seems to have the number of surguries the surgeon has performed. Can you share the name of the hospital and name of the surgeon you have seen for this and how many the surgeon told you he performed? I can only do one second opinion and can't fly around to everyone to ask during an appt, so if you can share your information it would be appreciated. Hopefully I will get several names of surgeons who have done a lot that I can choose from. I would like to do the surgery locally, but my area (NW) may not have a good option.
My mom was just diagnosed with distal bile duct cancer. They said she would need some of her pancreas, bile duct and small intestine removed. Wondering if you have any experience with surgeons in the Portland area? We would also look at Seattle too if you know of any there that have successfully done a lot of them. We are trying to find out how many of these surgeries were performed by surgeions/hospitals, but find it hard to get this info.
