So far we have had two CT scans, PET scan and MRI. Monday will give us results on the MRI and a CT scan. So far the team thinks it is contained to the Bile duct area. They scrapped the Liver, Pancreases and Lymph? next the cancer and they tested fine. We are starting out with Gunderson Lutheran in La Crosse. Our Surgeon is younger but has done some of his training in Mayo (Rochester). His specialty area is Liver, Gall Bladder, Pancreas, Stomach area. He is worried the cancer has moved up the bile duct into the Liver and down into the pancreases and has told us if the cancer is both up(in the liver) and down (in the pancreatic) he will not do surgery. My husband is 61 and has hypertension and is diabetic type 2. Removal of the liver or the Wipple are both tough surgeries? on their own.
We do not plan on giving up just so much has hit us so fast. I have been trying to learn as much as I can about this cancer and believe I wish I did not know about this site and community as well. But my husband does have this cancer so I am grateful to have a site like this to come to and grab some hope. So much that I have found is all doom and gloom with this cancer. So it is great to hear the success stories.
A bit about us. We are both Type A personalities. We love our life and everyone around us loves the ride we put them on with us. We are forever giving back to our community and teaching our kids that is their responsibility as well. We have five wonderful kids (his, mine and ours) We still have two kids at home, three that have grown up and moved out even a granddaughter and another grandchild on they way. We own a business with my husband business partner for the last 30 years. (The downside is we have had to sue his partner so the company is currently in court). My husband is the Local president of the local Airshow (blue angels 2014) and airbosses several local airshows (free of charge). My husband has been a pilot for 43 years. We are also with the USCGAUX ( I am commander and my husband is vice). The list goes on but I think everyone gets the picture.
So you can about imagine even the first struggle right now is who to tell and by not telling people "rumors" spread. Even as we are trying to grasp the reality of this bump in the road of life.
