Topic: Tumor shrunk!

I had a CT Scan on Tuesday, and the tumor has shrunk enough to expose the left side of the bile ducts to normal drainage.  My oncologist is consulting with a surgeon at Swedish Hospital in Seattle, who has experience with cc.  Hopefully the good news is that the tumor is now resectable.  If not, I seem to be responding to treatment pretty well and am feeling good.

If its not resectable, I guess I need to learn how to live the rest of my life with cancer. 

I'm four months past diagnoses, and its sure been a roller coaster ride.  In and out of the hospital.  Feel good, don't feel good.  Generally, though, overall I'm in perfect health.  Except for cancer!

Such wonderful news. I am so glad you are responding well to treatment and I do hope that surgery is on its way for you. By the way, you have a wonderful attitude!!!

My doctors want to have me another month on chemo, then reevaluate with a CT scan in January.  We are all hopeful for a positive result.  I feel better now than I have in months, thanks be to God, and just in time for Christmas.  I can even eat salsa!  Ole!

If the tumor can't be removed, I guess that I will get to know my oncologist and gastroenterologist very well smile

HAve a Merry Christmas and get ready for a super duper CT scan so surgery will be on its way.

I have a wonderful relationship with my doctor. When I had a break down with the person who will be putting in my drain, she called him and he literally came RUNNING down the hall to get to me. You do develop some wonderful bonds with these people.  So I hope you too will "get to know" your doctors "very well" and they lead you with strength down the healthy path.

I visited with my oncologist yesterday and he was kind of preparing me for the possiblity that the tumor was not resectable.  However, he says that I'm responding very well to the chemo so there is reason to suppose that I can stay healthy and learn to live with cancer as a chronic disease.

Hi Lisa.... Glad to hear you are responding well to chemo.  What are you trying at this time?   Living with a chronic disease has become my middle name.  I always have that " I wonder when or if things are going to change" For the better or for the worst.  You can't get it out of your mind so I bury it with something more positive in life.  Stay busy of course. Well got to go, one of the grandchildren having a little tantrum.  Ha!  Time out  Time!  These little ones certainly can teach you persistence Ha! and hope! "that they can do it their way when their not to.

Go Lisa!   You can live with CC as a chronic disease...and have a "normal??!" life too.  The hardest part (I find) is trying to explain it to others.   They expect you to get a diagnosis, a cut, some radiation or chemo or both and then be done.   

More and more, we're finding cancer doesn't really work that way all the time...  Just keep going, explaining and scanning.   : )
