Topic: Sad news!!!

My dad passed away this morning from this terrible disease. It has only been about 4 1/2 weeks since he was diagnosed. I want you to know that he was in terrible health before this diagnosis so I don't want anyone to get discouraged because this happened so fast. For those of you that have followed his progression of declining health, you know that he had given up already and wanted to go fast. I prayed to God last night to take him because he was such a proud man and did not want to be a burden on anyone. No matter what I told him, he just did not believe that we were alright with taking care of him. He felt he was a burden on us. I just want to let y'all know that you can fight this. Do not give up!!!!! I have read so many posts on here with wonderful news, so I know this "crap" can be fought and won. My brothers and I will keep all of you in our prayers and I will continue following your stories. Love to you all and KEEP ON FIGHTING!!!!!!!
Rita

Re: Sad news!!!

Rita,
I am so sorry for your loss. It must be difficult to be in a place where the one you love wants to die. Your dad is now at peace and in a way you can even feel some relief that such a proud man (perhaps even a little stubborn?) was able to leave this earth on HIS terms.

Please dont be a stranger- we are here to support you when you need it. There are plenty  of people here who unfortunately like you have had this experience. You are in my prayers.

Rita,

My prays are with you and your family.  It is certainly sad news, but at least he is at the resting place that he wanted.  Again, I have to say I am aghast at how quickly this disease takes people (I know you said he had other illnesses).

Wishing all God's blessings!

Re: Sad news!!!

God bless your Dad, you and the rest of your family. If you ever need to talk or just vent....email me okay? My Daddy said to me the last time I saw him was "Don't worry.... we will be together again". I know that we are still together everyday, Your Dad is still with you too. Stay strong and hold on tight to the ones you love.....

We will be together again.....

Re: Sad news!!!

Rita ... My sincere condolences for you and your family.  I can understand the feeling of being a burden at times.  Remaining active and useful for as long as possible is what I wish for.  Of course a cure around the corner would be nice as well.  I agree goood health to start of with if it has to be definitely has it's benefits.
God Bless you,
Jeff

Daddy's Girl ... your positive outlook and belief will keep you strong for sure.  Feeling the way you do makes me feel good inside.  I hope my daughter has the same strength when the time comes, not to soon I hope. I'm sure your Daddy is so so proud of you!
Til Eternity and God Bless You!

Re: Sad news!!!

Dear Rita -- My husband passed away in May and since that time, I have read as many messages as I can. I read yours with heartache and understanding all through your father's illness. Many of the things that you were experiencing, how your Dad was talking and acting and the symptoms that you were describing, were very much like my husband's in his final days. Just always remember that you were there for him in his final days. That is so comforting to me now. God bless you and give you strength in the days ahead. It's a blessing that he will not have to suffer anymore -- he is in a much better place than on a bed of pain! God bless you and your family.  ~~  Jean

Re: Sad news!!!

Dear Rita,
I am so sorry to hear of your dad's passing, but glad that he's no longer suffering. Your love for him was selfless and allowed him to let go.

I wish you peace,
Joyce

Re: Sad news!!!

Rita,

I was saddened to see your posting - but in many ways your dad sounded like mine. Driven, a bit head strong, and man who would generally have the final say. Be assured that he felt your love and that likely gave him strength and comfort. My condolences to you and your family.

Re: Sad news!!!

Thank you to each and every one of you. We have laid my dad to rest with full military honors and I was presented with the flag which is a great honor, but the real honor was to be his daughter and be loved by him. I was his chosen one, his first born. He adopted me when I was 1 1/2 and I don't know if he ever knew that I knew but I never told him because he was My Dad!!! Love and Prayers to all.

Re: Sad news!!!

What a beautiful post Rita.  Seeing yourself as "chosen" shows what wonderful character you derived from you parents and I am sure they felt so blessed to have you.
There is a country song by Brad Paisley called "When I get where I'm going" that brought me great solace when my Dad died in August.

Yeah when I get where I'm going,
there'll be only happy tears.
I will shed the sins and struggles,
I have carried all these years.
And I'll leave my heart wide open,
I will love and have no fear.
Yeah when I get where I'm going,
Don't cry for me down here.

Thinking of you and wishing you strength and peace.
