Topic: Meetup in Seattle area

Ok, fellow cc sufferers & caregivers in the Seattle area - let's get together and celebrate survivorship in November!  Let's live, laugh, and love one another!

Would November 8th or 15th work for you all?  Both those dates are Saturdays.

Where is a good place to have dinner?

Ideas?

I like both Italian and Mexican food.  How about you?

Re: Meetup in Seattle area

Oh, sounds like fun! I wish I could go to a meet up...as it is, I think Carol is the closest so she needs to get into hiding or all end up on her doorstep.

It is wonderful you guys are getting to see each other and it is amazing something started to help and honor one patient has exploded into something so wonderful that people are meeting and supporting each other in real life.

It just shows how truly wonderful everyone is on here. I hope everyone who can go does go.

Such a good idea!!!  I will make either date work!  I love Italian and Mexican...actually I like all food...Chinese, Thai, Indian, seafood...pretty much everything.  But, you can never go wrong with melted cheese!

I wanted to say that everyone in the Seattle area is welcome...even if you've never posted...you are a fellow traveler in this journey and a member of our forum.  So, please let us know!

I've been trying to think of a restaurant.  Maybe when we know more specifically whose coming and from where, we can come up with something centrally located for everyone.

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Re: Meetup in Seattle area

The 8th might work out better for me because I get infusions on the 13th & 14th. I can't predict how I will feel the following Saturday (15th). I don't know about restaurants in the Seattle area but I can inquire. I will check back to see when and where our meeting will take place. Look forward to meeting you all sometime soon,

Re: Meetup in Seattle area

I could do the 8th.  I love Italian & Mexican.    I don't know how far north or south y'all want to travel.  There's an Azteca at Alderwood Mall.  Also one in Mukilteo.   Also a P.F. Chang's in Lynnwood (Alderwood).  I'm thinking of places like that because of reasonable prices and the fact we can all blahblahblah without interruption.    Lisa and Jim, since you are each coming from far north and far south, perhaps you should decide what works for you both.  I'm game for any venue in any city. (How 'bout Rome, Italy?)

Re: Meetup in Seattle area

Jim here. I hope I do not offend anyone but Azteca is not really Mexican food. I found some more authentic food in Mukilteo on 99 around the casino and Jimmy Jacks. Don't know the name. It's a bright orange building right on 99. I will get the name in a few days. I have a good friend that is a wonderful mexican chef in Issaquah. He owns the Las Margaritas there. I ask for Oscas special and food comes out of the kitchen that is not on the menu. I wish I could say the same for Italian. I do know of a spendy pizza and wine place in Mukilteo. But I am open to meeting anywhere for our first gathering. I am often in Mukilteo on the weekends.

Re: Meetup in Seattle area

Jim -- no offense taken.  I just thought we were meeting for a casual, fun gathering.  If it's about the food, I have dozens of fine restaurant suggestions.  Amici Bistro might be the Italian Restaurant you're thinking of in Mukilteo.

Re: Meetup in Seattle area

I believe you are right about the restaurant and the purpose for meeting. I didn't mean to suggest otherwise. Looking forward to meeting wherever it is on the 8th.

Re: Meetup in Seattle area

And we are all looking forward to your reunion report! I think you should each describe what you think the other looks like!  Just kidding. I wish we could have a reunion here in Phoenix! Hear that Phoenix?

Re: Meetup in Seattle area

How about Chang's in Alderwood on the 8th?  I come down from Stanwood, so that's about a 45 minute drive for me.

I'm excited!  It will be fun to meet you all.

Re: Meetup in Seattle area

Lisa

Sounds good...really looking forward to meeting everyone!

Re: Meetup in Seattle area

While y'all are meeting in Seattle on the 8th, the foundation board will be meeting in Houston.  Perhaps November 8th will need to begin carrying some significance in the future!

If you have a camera handy, and you are comfortable with it, I'm sure people on the boards would love to see pictures from your meeting!

Yes, please be sure to take a photo.

Has anyone mentioned a time for this significant event? I look forward to being there.

Re: Meetup in Seattle area

Would 6:00 work out ok?  I have an early bedtime - I start fading out about 8:00 in the evening.  I'm excited to meet those who can make it.

Re: Meetup in Seattle area

6:00 sounds good to me

Re: Meetup in Seattle area

Good thinking Jeff...I have seen Lisa's picture on the site but otherwise we won't know each other!  I'd be glad to make reservations and 6:00 is great for me.

Re: Meetup in Seattle area

Ok Jean, you can be in charge of reservations.  I'll get there a few minutes early (maybe with my beret, haha!)

I'm blond, 45ish, and have twinkling blue eyes.

I'll be coming in alone, so count me as (1).

Re: Meetup in Seattle area

Hi All

I'll make the reservations...so four of us;  me, Lisa, Jim and Diane.  I'll just put the reservations in my name (Jean).  I'm so much looking forward to meeting all of you!  See you at 6:00!!

Jean

Re: Meetup in Seattle area

Looking forward to tonight.  I'll bring my camera.  My daughter might come along, too.

Re: Meetup in Seattle area

Have a wonderful time.  I wish I could have joined you but, some great stories and a few pictures will make up for my not being able to part of this exclusive get-together.

Re: Meetup in Seattle area

Jim, Jean and I met at Chang's in Alderwood last night.  It was great to meet in person.  We enjoyed a nice meal together.  It turned out that Jean and I had the same oncologist and surgeon.  I wish we could all meet in person some day.  I took a picture, but not sure how it turned out yet.

Re: Meetup in Seattle area

Lisa & Jim

It was so nice to meet you both last night and share our common experiences and have a good meal!  Too bad the camera battery ran out ...only one picture and that was of Jim and I and none of Lisa!!

Jean

Re: Meetup in Seattle area

I had a busy day yesterday so took the liberty of sleeping in. Dinner was a hit last night and it was certainly a pleasure meeting both you Jean and Lisa. it was unfortunate that the battery went died on the second photo shot. Perhaps a call for another get together soon. Thanks for making it a memorable moment for me knowing I am not alone.
