Topic: Grieve Not For Me, My Darling - A Poem

I have a poem I have kept for years and I believe it is due now for this Board.
I sent it to Jeff 6 weeks ago and he loved it and I  hope you do too.

If I should be the first to go,
And leave you alone, My Dear,
Let not your heart be lonely,
Nor in your eye a tear.

Grieve not for me, my darling,
I'll not be far away,
With petals of love and tenderness,
I'll pave for you the way.

To join me in our sanctuary,
And ne'er again we'll part,
Grieve not for me, my darling,
I live within your heart.

Take joy again in living,
As you did in years gone by,
God knows of what He's doing,
And not be questioned why,

Grieve not for me, my darling,
My life with you on earth,
Each moment filled with happiness,
And love so few be worth.

I'll be waiting for you Sweetheart,
Where skys are ever blue,
With eager heart and open arms,
Patiently for you.

Grieve not for me, my darling,
May faith and my love keep
Your soul filled with contentment,
Eternally I sleep.

Re: Grieve Not For Me, My Darling - A Poem

Lainy,

Thanks for sharing this beautiful poem.  I love it, too. I don't know about anyone else, but it sure came at the right time for me. I am sure it will be a comfort to many of us. Thanks for posting it.

Lainy-
I read this poem a few days ago, but didn't respond at the time...well, 'cuz I couldn't.  The next few days were spent watching my mom (she has advanced Parkinson's Dis.) and seeing how she misses my dad.  I thought about my dad and how he worried about leaving my mom  -and my younger bro diagnosed with MR, cerebral palsy & deaf/mute-  when God called for him.  This beautiful poem that you shared reminds me of the love my parents had for each other.  A year ago we had celebrated mom and dad's 50th wedding anniversary.  Three months before dad's diagnosis.

I'm would like to have the poem reprinted and put on a pillar candle, with dad's picture and give it to mom for Christmas.

Thanks, Lainy, for sharing the poem.  And I am beside myself with joy over the good news you and Teddy have been receiving as of late.  You've come to mean so much to me.

Oh, Jolene, what a beautiful response. I found this poem years ago and have always loved it.  I am so glad it will be making some wonderful people happy!
You have had more than your share to bare and you must be a very special person that your family knew they could depend on you. You will be blessed!
