I now am in this beautiful large space. I have an East and a South view right to the bird feeder, wonderful light and room to have my painting supplies, books etc laid out. The bird feeder pleases me and it must have been a poor Pine Cone crop in Quebec this year as the Connecticut valley is
already seeing the likes of Pine Siskins and Crossbills. Next time she comes Julie will bring my binoculars.
This is from Wendel Berry's "Given Poems":

Winter sun is casting the long distinct shadows of the season. The crisp clear light of the season is one of it's gifts. I remember standing on the top of Adams feeling I could see forever in this light. Winter in the White Mountains was always my favorite time there. No room for mistakes but the immediacy of the environment and weather helped me feel so alive and present. Now I climb different mountains.
