Topic: Our fighter finally went home

This morning at 9:15 am I traded hands with Jesus at the end of the road and watch them walk into eternal life. Wednesday, Lee went on life support when a severe infection attacked his body. Knowing that the machines were the only thing helping him, we took him off yesterday afternoon. The doctors told us that he would pass within the hour....but in Lee's true fashion, he fought for 18 hours. Emilee and I will forever be indebted to him for the wonderful life he made for us.

Re: Our fighter finally went home

Heather,
I feel so much pain from your news. Lee was too young. I am so sorry for your and Emilee's loss. I will keep you and your family in  my thoughts and prayers.

Re: Our fighter finally went home

Dear Heather and Emilee, I am so very saddened to hear of Lee's passing. He put up a valiant fight. And you were there to ease his journey all the way. Here is a poem for you and Emilee:

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say.
But first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from Heaven.
Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness;
here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night.
There's so much that we have to do,
to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things,
that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list,
was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night,
the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you...
in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth,
and all those loving years.
Because you are only human,
they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry:
it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers,
unless there was some rain.
But one thing is for certain, through my life on earth is over.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you
and many hills to climb;
But together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too;
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and in pain;
Then you can say to God at night....
"my day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....
that my life was worthwhile.
Knowing as I passed along the way
I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody
who is sad and feeling low;
Just lend a hand to pick him up,
as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street
and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps
only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go....
from that body to be free.
Remember you're not going...
your coming here to me.

Re: Our fighter finally went home

Heather,

I am so sorry for your loss. Lee was a fighter & too young to be taken by this horrible disease.  Just know that he is now in a better place & no longer suffering.  He will be in your hearts forever.  You and Emilee are in my thoughts & prayers.

Re: Our fighter finally went home

Heather, I'm so very sorry for your loss.  Lee was truly a fighter.  Words can't express the sorrow I'm sure you are feeling right now.  Know that you will remain in our thoughts and prayers today and in the days to come.  As Lainy's poem expressed, although you cannot see Lee now, he is in Heaven watching over you and Emilee.

God bless you,
Lisa

Re: Our fighter finally went home

Dear Heather and Emilee,

  I write this with tears in my eyes. You and Lee, and Butch and I started on this board about the same time, and I remember when we all went to the Mayo Clinic - we went in early April last year. Lee was so young, and words truly cannot express how sorry I am. We can take comfort in the fact that we know where they went though - we saw them go to the arms of the Lord. That is a big comfort to me, and I hope it is for you. I will be thinking of you, and praying that the Lord watches over you both and comforts you.

Love,

Joyce
