Topic: Roberto D'Egidio is dancing with the angels

I would like to let all my dear friends on this board know that my sweet, amazing loving father took his last breath today at 5:10 pm.   He was surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren.  We were all sitting around him on his kind size bed, kissing, hugging, caressing, and telling him how much we love him, and always will.
My dad fought this cancer with dignity and grace, which is exactly how he lived his life always.  He will be missed more than words can say......
Thanks for all your support and kind words.

Dear Barbara,
I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the members of your familyas you face the sad times ahead.  At least we all have the comfort of knowing that our loved ones are no longer suffering with this terrible disease, and that they are - as you say - "dancing with the angels".

Cyber hugs,

Re: Roberto D'Egidio is dancing with the angels

Dearest Barbara, we are so very sorry to hear of dad's Passing. There are no words adequate enough to describe your father/daughter relationship so I will just print this poem and know that you are in our hearts and prayers.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say.
But first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from Heaven.
Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness;
here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you
when my life on earth was through.
God picked me up and hugged me
and said, "I welcome you.
It's good to have you back again,
you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family,
they'll be here later on.
God gave me a list of things,
that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list,
was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night,
the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you...
in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth,
and all those loving years.
Because you are only human,
they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry:
it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers,
unless there was some rain.
One thing is for certain, though my life on earth is over.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you
and many hills to climb;
Together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
And now I am contented....
that my life was worthwhile.
Knowing as I passed along the way
I made somebody smile.
When you're walking down the street
and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps
only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go....
from that body to be free.
Remember you're not going...
your coming home to me.

Re: Roberto D'Egidio is dancing with the angels

Dearest Barbara - Please know that I am thinking and praying for you and your family during this time.  You will always miss your one and only Daddy, but he fought such a brave fight - please know that.  From one Daddy's girl to another, my heart aches for you as you face the days ahead. Please remember all the precious, happy moments you shared with your Daddy.  I also want to pass on a poem that has comforted me so much since my Daddy died January 14.   If you need anything, please e-mail me.....
Love,
Patsy

He is Gone
You can shed tears that he is gone,
Or you can smile because he lived,
You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back,
Or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left.

Your heart can be empty because you can't see him
Or you can be full of the love that you shared,
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember him and only that he is gone
Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on,
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back,
Or you can do what he would want:
Smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

Re: Roberto D'Egidio is dancing with the angels

Dear Barbara, you are the greatest daughter in the world, and even without ever having met you, you are absolutely one of the strongest that I've ever crossed paths with.  You were there with words of encouragement for me through my Dad's whole journey and I pray tonight that our Dad's finally have a chance to say hello (& talk together about red wine and their loving daughters!).  Your Dad was such a fighter, and I hope that you find peace in his peace.  You were with him every step of the way, he knew it then and he remembers it now.  He'll always be with you.

Sending you many hugs,
Tess

Re: Roberto D'Egidio is dancing with the angels

Barbara,

I am so sorry, the way you speak of your father I know this disease has taken a good man.

His body is free of the pain you could not bear to see him suffer, many years ago I memorized a poem about the peace that death can bring and since it is April and raining here, I think it is very fitting and hope it will bring you comfort:

Remember, he was a strong abruzzese and you are made of that same stuff. You gave him the greatest gift, you made him so proud.

Barbara,

I am so very sorry to hear of the loss of your father. I know from what you have told me that your father was an amazing, caring man who raised a wonderful, loving family. You fought this illness at Roberto's side at all times and I know that he will have been immensely proud of you.

My heart goes out to you and your family and I will say a prayer for you all.

Hugs
