Topic: Photography to raise awareness of Cholangiocarcinoma

Hello everyone.

My mother in law (Charlotte Ottilo) is a photographer, and while her sister was battling this cancer she asked to be photographed to help raise awareness. Below you will find a link to her photographs which will be entered into a international photography competition.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Re: Photography to raise awareness of Cholangiocarcinoma

wonderful pictures.  No matter how much we may talk about it, SEEING the effects of this horrible disease really does say so much more.

Hmm, "ready, set, vomit".  That was me two days ago at chemo.

Re: Photography to raise awareness of Cholangiocarcinoma

Thank you Marion, Lainy and Lisa. i have forwarded your comments onto my mother-in-law (the photographer). Really appreciate the feedback!!!

Re: Photography to raise awareness of Cholangiocarcinoma

actually I've been vomiting everyday for the past three days.  I'm sitting here with a 99 fever and feeling like crap.

Ironically, I was supposed to go to a healing Mass tonight but I'm too sick to go.

Thanks for asking!

Re: Photography to raise awareness of Cholangiocarcinoma

Lisa....has this ever happened before?

Re: Photography to raise awareness of Cholangiocarcinoma

I have previously had fever and nausea after chemo, and they found that I had sepsis from an infected picc line.

If I feel bad tomorrow I will call my doctor.

Re: Photography to raise awareness of Cholangiocarcinoma

Angela,
I think this set of pictures tells the story very, very well. If the pictures were dated in addition to titled, I think it would show the progression better - I think the time frame is important for people to understand? Well done - what brave souls.

Angela,
I agree with the rest, I think the pictures are great.

Lisa,
How are your doing today?

Re: Photography to raise awareness of Cholangiocarcinoma

I think adding dates or date ranges to the photos is a great idea.

Darla, I'm feeling a bit better as the fever has broken, otherwise I'm very weak and tired today.

Re: Photography to raise awareness of Cholangiocarcinoma

Lisa,

Glad to hear you are feeling a little better and the fever has broken.  After  3 days of vomiting & fever it's no wonder you are weak & tired. Take  it easy for a few days & hopefully things will improve even more! smile

Take Care,
Darla

Re: Photography to raise awareness of Cholangiocarcinoma

Angela,
The pictures are wonderful. I also like the idea of adding dates to them. Please pass on to your mother in law that the pictures were wonderful and certainly told a story. Her sister was a beautiful woman. I'd like to offer my sympathy and prayers for you and your family for your loss. God Bless,
Jamie

Lisa,
Glad to hear you are feeling better! Get some rest and make sure you try and get lots of fluid to replace what you've been losing both with the vomiting and the fever. God Bless,
Jamie

Re: Photography to raise awareness of Cholangiocarcinoma

These are fantastic pictures.  They definitely tell the sad story.

Re: Photography to raise awareness of Cholangiocarcinoma

Angela, your mother in law did a phenomenal job. As I looked throught the pics of her sister, I was feeling what I felt all last year.  The black and white instead of color is huge!  Gosh how I wish I would have thought have taking some pics like these.  I often thought of taking pics of the what seemed to be umpteen bags of chemo hanging there.  I don't know why I didn't.  My beloved husband was diagnosed 12-26-07 and 13 months later 1-18-09 passed away.  We would travel to Houston, MD Anderson every 2 weeks for his treatment.  Plenty of opportunity for picture taking.  Thank you for sharing, they speak loud and clear.

Re: Photography to raise awareness of Cholangiocarcinoma

Again, thank you everyone for your feedback. I have been forwarding it on to my mother in law, and she really appreciates all the comments.
It's not something most people would want to take pictures of but it can definately help raise awareness.

Lisa, I hope you are feeling better smile
