Topic: Lisa is in the hospital

Hi all;
Just wanted to let you know that Lisa is in the hospital and needs our prayers.  I will copy the note from her daughter from her Caring Bridge site.
Please lets all pray for her. Thanks and God Bless,
Jamie

Hello everyone, Jessica here. I just want to inform you what is happening with my mom right now.

A couple days ago my mom had a high fever and was in a lot of pain. My Grandma drove her to the hospital, where the doctors decided that she might have appendicitis. Because of the pain she still had, the doctors decided to remove her appendix yesterday.

Today I got word that my mom ended up having a seizure this morning because of the lack of fluids in her system. My Grandma just called me and told me that she is loosing blood and is going back into surgery.

Please keep her in your prayers during this difficult time. I know God has a purpose for what is going on, but I want to be a bit selfish and have her here longer.

I will keep all of you updated.

Always,
Jessica

Re: Lisa is in the hospital

Hi all;
Just wanted to post an update from Lisa's daughter.  Keep those prayers coming they are working!!!
Jamie

I called my grandma this morning and she said that my mom is still in the critical ward. They had to give her 3pints of blood and kept her in surgery for 2hours. When the doctor came out he said that she was regaining color but he wants to keep her in critical for a few more days. Doctors and nurses are doing a great job and checking in on her often.

My Grandma will be calling me later today with more news. I will keep you all updated.

Thank you for all the prayers. The power of prayer is truly amazing.

Always,
Jess

My Grandma called after my last class to inform me that my mom is doing better. She has been moved from critical ward to another wing of the hospital.

It turns out that she had blood poisoning. Dr. Radish was told today that my mother was in the hospital so he came over and looked at her charts and announced that she had blood poisoning.

She is getting color back and the doctors are hopeful that she will go home in the next few days.

Thank you for all your prayers.

Always,
Jess

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't updated lately, Ive been very busy with classes.

My mom is doing better, she called me today and told me she is a bit sore from the incisions and cant keep anything down. Other then that she is feeling stronger, we are still hoping that she can go home Friday or Saturday. She wont admit it but I think she really misses our dogs snuggling with her. smile  Tomorrow the doctors are going to take x-rays of her lungs to make sure that fluid is going down.

She wanted me to thank all of you for your prayers and kind words.

Love all of you!

Always,
Jess

Thanks for sharing. I know that I miss my kitties when I am in the hospital...and a cat is not near as nice as a dog.

Hope you get otta there soon Lisa!

Re: Lisa is in the hospital

You might want to check at the nurse's station if dogs are allowed to visit. There are many fine companions who visit patients in a variety of situations, bringing comfort to those who need it. For many people, a visit from a pet can be as therapeutic as a visit from their kids, or more helpful than another pill.

Re: Lisa is in the hospital

WooHoo Lisa is home!!  Below is her note.

Tuesday, September 15, 2009 2:52 AM, CDT

Great news!  I am home now.  Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers, and thanks to my Mom for taking such good care of me in the hospital.  I don't know what I would do with out her.  I know my recovery would be much longer without her.  Thanks Jess for keeping you all informed!

I am in some pain from the incisions, and feel very weak right now.  But we know that when we are weak, God is strong and we cling ever more tightly to Him.

My surgeon does not really know what the relationship between the cholangiocarcinoma and the inflamed appendix is, if any, but he seems to feel that I was more susceptable due to the cancer and treatments over the past 2 years.  I asked him how I was doing, and he looked me in the eyes and said "You're doing great!".  So I decided to believe him.

I am eating small portions of food now, as my appetite is nearly shot.  However, everything is staying down and the nausea has passed, thanks be to God.  I think a lot of my nausea and dizziness is from the strong pain meds that they had me on.

So I am home now and the plan is to rest, rest, rest, and recuperate.  I will be using a walker till I get my strength back.  A home nurse will be visiting a couple of times a week to take vitals and check up on me.  So all is good, praise God!

Toddling off to bed now,
Love to all - Lisa

YEA!, Lisa, its so good to see your smiling face. We are so relieved. That appendix is a nasty little critter, been there done that. Oh, I am just so happy there is not much more I can say. Please be a spoiled brat and let everyone take care of you and treat you like a Princess! Will be watching for updates.
