Topic: Prayer Pants

I created these Prayer Pants that I wear every time I see the Onc, or go to any chemo, CT scan, whenever it has to do with cancer. The pants allow me to take my family, friends and prayer partners with me at all times for their love and support.  I can't figure out how to post a picture on here, so here is a link to my blog.

I started this blog for running, but obviously there was a detour in my life and it gives me the chance to write something that my family and friends across the US can read.  When ever they want and keep up with the situation.  They don't have to feel like they are intruding with a phone call or are always in the dark on what is happening.

And yes I also go by the Captain, as it was my handle for over 20 years in Indianapolis.

I guess I never was fond of my name, and worked very well with an alias.

Captain:  What a wonderful idea.  I showed the pic's to my husband Tom who is also fighting CC and he liked the idea so much that we want to do a pair of 'chemo' pants for him.  We have a caring bridge page for him and a "Love and Prayers for Thomas Lepp" on FB.  But with something like this he (like you) would be taking all the people that love and care for him to his chemo sessions.  Those pants would become a keepsake for me if/when he is called to our Lord.

We will be getting a pair of pants and will be starting with family and friends signing his pants.  LOVE IT, love it, love it.  What a great idea!

Thanks to all of you for your comments and prayers.  Please feel free to make your own pants, blankets, etc., to take your family and friends with you to maybe provide that extra support you need.  I'm glad to be able to give something to others that will help them and their families thru this time in our lives.  Or just the idea that we can still think outside the box on both support and witnessing for the Great Healer above.

I had my latest CT scan today and will know the results on Friday AM, will let you all know asap.

Wow, Captain, thanks for posting, you made me smile--that is one unique way of showing cancer who is wearing the pants! I think the best thing about them is that they make people ask questions, they will not be ignored, and then  people learn about cc. Oh, and they make you look stylin'!

Good news, good news.  CT scan showed the tumor is shrinking.  I saw the original scan and the one from Weds and it's true.  Also my Alk phos which started out @ 511 is now down to 105.  I'm in the normal range, well, according to the blood work, but we all know I'm not normal.  I'm staying on the same chemo plan till 12/30, " Happy New Year".  My onc will be talking to Dr. House to see if the chemo pump is an option, with the thoughts in mind that " what the heck the current plan is working fine, why change it? "

Remembering that beyond all this good news I still have CC, but conditions are changing that may allow more options in the future.  And no matter what, I truthfully won't ever be cancer free.  But each new day is a new adventure, and a day spent with loved ones.

Thanks for all your support, and I throw prayers and positive thoughts back to each and every one of you.

Grover....Fantastic News. Congratulations.  As Patty has mentioned, these cancer cells are getting the message:  You are waring the pants.  Discussions in regards to the hepatic pump have come up frequently and I would be open to listening to what the physicians have to say. You might want to ask:  why do you recommend it over the present treatment, how often has it been used on CC patients, what was the outcome with this treatment in re: to CC patients?

Cindy,     Chemo drink recipe:

2 bags of saline, 1 hour each taken before and after chemo.
1 large bag of Gemcitabine
1 smaller bag of Platinol
84 prayers daily
1 pair of prayer pants
semi trailer full of love from others
and 1 group of caring people on this discussion board.

  LOL...........Don't know how my brain functions sometimes, my daughter saw a T-shirt in the gift shop that I said I wanted for Christmas.

It said  "  I have Chemo Brain, what's your excuse? "

Hello everyone!  Guess who I got to meet at the hospital last Friday?  If you guessed Grover or Captain with the prayer pants, you are correct!  Is it weird for me to say that I found it so exciting to meet someone with the same rare cancer as I have, that lives so close to me and goes to the same Doctors?

Cindy...two people with a rare cancer treated by the same physician, indeed that beats the rare occurence of this disease.  Add to that a personal meeting - that comes close to being a miracle.  I share your joy.
