Topic: My daddy

Dad was called home around 8 pm on November 2. My mom, my siblings, myself, our spouses, and his younger brother were there to comfort him as he left this world. He is very missed but we are glad his pain is gone. He fought a hard battle (was diagnosed July 2011).

Re: My daddy

Dear GHM and Family, I am so very sorry but as you said he is now at Peace and at Home. My prayers and thoughts go out to you.

Letter from Heaven  by Ruth Ann Mahaffey

To my dearest family some things I'd like to say
But first of all to let you know that I arrived okay,
I'm writing this from Heaven. Here I shall dwell with God above
Here, there's no more tears of sadness. Here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy because I'm out of sight
Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through
God picked me up and hugged me and He said "I welcome you,
It's good to have you back again,
you were missed while you were gone,
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
God gave me a list of things that he wished for me to do
And foremost on the list was to watch and care for you
And when you lie in bed at night, the days chores put to flight
God and I are closest to you . . in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth and all those loving years
Because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears
But do not be afraid to cry, it does relieve the pain
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
One thing is for certain though my life on earth is o'er
I'm closer to you now than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb
Together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
When you're walking down the street and you've got me on your mind
I'm walking in your footsteps, only half a step behind
And when it's time for you to go . . from that body to be free
Remember you're not going . . you're just coming here to me.

Re: My daddy

Erin,

I am so sorry to hear of your father's passing.  I hope that all of the happy memories you have of him soon replace the sadness you are feeling right now.

You were such a supportive daughter and when I was looking at your web page for your dad about the 5K in his honor I can see how many people he impacted in his life and how loved he was.  I am sure he will be missed by so many people.

Take care,

Re: My daddy

Erin,

I lost my Dad too in January of 2007, he was diagnosed only 8 weeks prior. It is a difficult journey we travel, those of us touched by this disease, but please know that the support you gave your father was the best medicine he could have had.  It will be going on six years since my Dad passed away and the thing that helped me heal most was to push myself to do things in his honour. I would have rather fled somewhere and raged at the injustice of it all, but I wanted to make him proud and through these things, I felt I was helping him to live on by helping others. Many times I faked it, having lost my faith in a lot of things, but eventually I saw that my pain was transformed into meaning.

I am so sorry you had to experience this with your father and I hope that you will soon be able to recall the wonderful memories you have that will never die.  My mom and I were also there at that moment and I was so blessed to have been able to hold my Dad's hand up until the moment it was taken up, somewhere far away.

God Bless and you and your father are in my thoughts and prayers.
Missing U

Re: My daddy

Dear Missing U, it is so good to see you again! Your post is just wonderful and I believe you said it so right. Good to have you checking in here and I love your idea of putting your feelings in to honoring your father!

I wish heaven had a phone so I could hear your voice again.
•    I thought of you today, but that is nothing new.
•    I thought about you yesterday and days before that too.
•    I think of you in silence, I often speak your name.
•    All I have are memories and pictures in a frame.
•    Your memory is a keepsake, from which I'll never part.
•    God has you in his arms...I have you in my heart
