Topic: Update on John

We just spent the last 4 days in the hospital. John was having a type of heart attack for the last week and a half and we didn't know it.

We went in due to extreme pain. They put him on morphine in the ER. it took 60 mgs to get his pain under control !

After they admitted him he started sweating and the pain came back. His heart was racing at 170 beats a minute. The Dr. said the top part of his heart was beating so fast it couldn't fill the rest of his heart with enough blood.
He's been having these attacks and we didn't know! They said it was due to the Tarceva

My poor beloved husband. How much more can one man take? I don't know what  to do.  I wish it was over, I don't want him to hurt anymore please let it be over soon.

Re: Update on John

We are so sorry to hear about John. Makes you wonder just how much one human being is supposed to endure, that goes for both of you. I just do not know what to say except that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Teddy lights a candle every Sunday for all our friends on this site. I believe when peace comes for John it will also bring a kind of peace for you.

Re: Update on John

Charlene, It's never ending is it.  But John is closer to peace and painlessness.  He is such a strong willed man.  He appears to be fighting all the way.  He just wants to stay with his loved ones and I'm sure a little afraid of what to expect.  God's blessings for you both, that all goes in the direction of relief.

Charlene,
I wish I could hug you right now. You and John are amazing and your love for each other shines through your posts. My prayers are continueally with the two of you. Hold your precious time left together in your heart. You are not walking this alone, though I am sure you might feel that way at times.

Re: Update on John

Hi,
We had to go back to the ER yesterday. Johns heart started racing again, but the Dr. got it under control and has him on meds to keep it at the right speed.

The Hospice nurse came again today and we finally got all the papers signed so John is officially in Hospice. They're so great to both of us. We're both at peace with his passing now and are just going to spend what time we have left together in our house in Alabama.

We bought the house to retire in but since that's not going to happen, we will go there and just be together until he's gone.

I want you to know that the Hospice team has finally got his pain level to 0-2 at all times. I thank God for that!

I'll keep in touch with you all. I love each one of you for your support and prayers. You're all Gods Angels

Re: Update on John

Charlene,

My thoughts & prayers are with you & John. Know that we are all here for you now & will also be here for you when John has moved on to a better place where there is no more pain.  Just hold on to that & remember that he will be in your heart forever.

Charlene and John,
May the Passion of Christ guide you through this time.  I'm sending up prayers for strength.  Spend each moment holding each other.  God be with you and your family.

Re: Update on John

Charlene,
I am so glad that they got John's pain under control, and that you are both at peace with this decision. We want so badly for our loved ones to not be in any more pain and suffering, don't we? If someone had told me - even one month ago - that I would be at peace with the decision that Butch would enter hospice, I wouldn't have believed it. However, I know now exactly what you mean. I try to remember - every day - that God's grace will get us all through.

Re: Update on John

Charlene,
Having just gone through what you are going to go through my heart just hurts for you and your family.  How wonderful that you can return to your retirement home during this time.  I hope that gives you both comfort.  My parents also retired to AL, to the Gulf Shores area but dad was not able to spend his last 3 1/2 months there since it was so far from family.
I pray that you can hold hands and share these last days in God's peace.
