Topic: Gerson Therapy

I have been reading alot on this way of fighting cancer and actually all ailments. Does anyone have any PERSONAL experience with this treatment of getting back to nature? To me, it makes perfect sense. I have met some people who believe and are practicing the Hallelujah Acres way of eating and are having success. Looking at our (American's) way of eating and lack of exercise, I can see how we are all slowly killing ourselves and our children. Just look at the articles written about children being overweight, having diabetes, high blood pressure, etcetera at younger and younger ages. I do believe what we put in our mouths directly affects how we feel, but will it kill and remove cancerous cells and replace them with healthy ones?

Re: Gerson Therapy

Not sure where you reside, but in Scottsdale AZ there is a clinic called Envita. They work with the doctors but are not approved by Insurance Companies.
My daughter's fiance was diagnosed last summer with Lymphoma and went to the clinic in conjunction with Chemo. He is now in remission. He also found a Naturalpathic doctor who does the same thing for half the price. He has gone totally organic and feels and looks the picture of health. While this may not be for everyone it is certainly working for him.

Re: Gerson Therapy

Thank you Lainy for your reply, we are in NC. My mother is scheduled to visit an oncologist in 2 weeks, and it just isn't sitting right with me, this type of therapy keeps me up reading and writing, there is an inner feeling that this is what my mom needs to do. How would I find a clinic? If I were to look online, do I search Naturalpathic?

Re: Gerson Therapy

Carrie, go to Envita Scottsdale and read about it. I am sure there are other places in other states also. What they do is extremely heavy doses of Vitamin C
intravenously. I understand that the one my daughter's fiance goes to here is treating a CC patient as well. I would go to Naturalpathic North Carolina on the web and see what comes up and call one of them for further information.  Good luck!

Re: Gerson Therapy

Carrieann,

I felt the same way you did when Mark was diagnosed.  As I did all the research, it was hard to deny the impact of eating healthy, exercise, and many of the energy therapies i.e. visualization, acupuncture, etc.

You should be able to easily find a naturopathic Dr. in your area, just google everything.  Cancer Centers of America are one that work down both paths at the same time.  Modern and alternative.  You may want to take a look there.

I did look very heavily into the Gerson diet.  I spoke with them quite a bit and filled out all the applications for Mark.  He was accepted into the in-house program in CA but he was just too sick to go at this point.

It was a hard decision for him to make, to leave his wife and 4 kids to try something that he wasn't sure about or stay at home, continue what he knew, but remain with his family.

These are very difficult decisions. We ended up working with a naturopath that was about an hour from us.  She was suggested to us by a private insurance company.  She had patients in her clinic from all over the world, but it was amazingly expensive.  However, she had Mark on a very strict diet, which is on the discussion boards if you search, if you can't find it let me know and I would be happy to pass it on.  I researched every single item on that diet, because it didn't make sense to me.

It all became very clear soon - as I started digging through the research.  Our family changed our diet completely.  But I think too often these kinds of things are last resorts.

Re: Gerson Therapy

Dear Carrie Ann: The best resource I have found regarding nutrition and cancer is "Beating Cancer through Nutrition", by Patrick Quillan. He was the head nutritionist at Cancer Treatment Centers of America for 10 years. The book is more like an encyclopedia, rather than a single dietary method, although different "diet methods" are discussed. It contains tons of information about vitamins, supplements, food value, food combinations, sugar evaluation, etc. Every statement in the book is followed by a foot note so that you can check the original source for yourself. It also contains a guide to practicing naturopaths and nutritionists in every state in the country. Add this one to your library!

Re: Gerson Therapy

i heard all the doctors at envita left and formed their own clinic doing all the same treatments for half the price

Re: Gerson Therapy

While I have not heard that all the doctors left, I do know that if you can find a good naturalpathic doctor they do charge like 1/2 the price to do the same thing. But the Envita web site is a good place to read up on it.
