Topic: Hello Friends

Hello to everyone,

I just found this site tonight, and I can't stop reading all of the information, blogs, and heart-rending posts.  You see, my father, age 75, was just diagnosed with this horrendous disease.  I had never even heard of this type of cancer before last week, and I had no idea what we were up against when we were given the diagnosis.  Now, I do.  Although I've been crying my eyes out all evening, at least now I have a better understanding of the situation, thanks mostly to this site.

Hi Ann Marie,
You have certainly come to the right place to learn as much about this disease as you can.  I think the most important thing you can do is to get second and third opinions and never give up.  Resection is the only cure, but most people are not candidates by the time they are diagnosed.  You can find out here what others have tried and learn from them.  What works for one may not work for another, and it may take trial and error.  But never give up hope!  Tell your father you've found this site and that you are going to learn all you can to help him and that he should fight!  Crying is normal because life will never be the same, but once you get over the initial shock, you will want to immerse yourself in research as all of us here have.

I too cried alot when I first went onto the internet to find out what my Mums Klatskin Tumour was! You are not alone!
You will get much support and advice from this site, I am so glad I found it, as it really helped while I was going through it all with my Mum.
She had a successful resection in June, and despite a few complications, is now living life as normal again, and has just been given the all clear after a recent scan. I had thought when I found out initially, that it was a hopeless situation.
Hang in there, don't give up hope, and I wish you, your Father and family, all good things.
