Hello everyone. I just found your site. I am 46 and was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma in August 2008 and was only given 2 months to live. I had surgery in September. My chief surgeon was great! He was willing to take my case and try to save my life. With his skill and the grace of God, I am still here to talk about it. The surgeons removed 70% of my liver, gallbladder and common bile duct. The surgery lasted over 12 hours. The margins and the 15 lympnodes they removed all were negative. Thank God!! I started chemo in November. They are using Gemzar. I am also on Kytril and Decron for vomiting. I am thankful that I am not hugging the toilet. The Gemzar made me very constipated. I tried everything without any help. My Oncologist prescribed Lactulose Solution. Alone that didn't help so I started trying other over the counter meds. I am now every regular almost too much but it beats straining. I use the Latulose, Wal-Mart

Hi David,
I am so happy to hear of your success. My Mom was told her tumor is inoperable at this time, but we're hoping that we will get a miracle and her tumor will shrink enough for her to be a surgical candidate. Do you mind me asking who did your surgery. I'm trying to stay one step ahead and look for good surgoens just in case.

Re: New Member

Robyn,
My surgoen is Steven M. Rudich. Tele 513-558-3892 He is the Professor of Surgery and the Director, Liver Transplant Services. You may not get in touch with him directly at first. he has a staff that handles most of his daily activities since he is in surgery everyday. You doctor might have better luck at first. It seems doctors will initially talk to each other before they talk to us. If it wasn't for my doctors, I wouldn't have gotten into Dr Rudich. I can't say enough good things about him other then he took my case and I am still living to talk about it. He seems to like the tough cases. Hope all goes well for your mom. You and your family will be in our prayers. Prayer is the one thing we can always count on. I had alot of people praying for me. It truely helps. May God bless you and your family at this difficult time
