Topic: I am on a 5 hour hospital parole so I thought I would catch you up

So, things are never easy with me. I am a drama  queen extraordinare and so of course my ERCP was not easy and asked more questions than it answered.

Apparently, the area where the stomach and small intestines join is completely blocked. Nothing getting through which is the reason for all the vomitting. So they took some tissue samples which came back negative for cancer. So I have no signs of a reoccurance from tissue samples, MRI and numerous xrays. Bloodwork is ""rather good" as well.

My doctor says there are two possibilities. 1)Cancer is back or 2)Scar tissue is building up. On Monday, I will go under the knife again to have a small hole cut in the bottom of my stomach and have the small intestine attached directly there. While I am open, they will get more tissue samples and investigate.

My doctor said if it is a reoccurance, it will be impossible to get back on the liver transplant list but there is a possibility of some cutting edge surgery to remove the place if he can talk better doctors into it.

So here I am asking for everyone's best thoughts and prayers. I am so scared and my husband and I are clinging to each other. I told my doctor not to worry, its not cancer, just my yearly scare and hospital stay but he didnt look convinced. My dad is flying in on Sunday and my mom will wait to see if it is cancer before she uses her few vacation days.

Anyway, please keep me in your thoughts  and prayers. I am so overwhelmed right now it is so hard for me to process things. I just read that Peter has passed away and it isnt really sinking in yet.

Dear Kris:  It would be easiest to say don't be scared so I will say STAY STRONG! I always take the attitude that I realistically hope for the best. Like you say lets just hope that it is your annual scare. Above all all our prayers are going out to you and we await the updated post!

Re: I am on a 5 hour hospital parole so I thought I would catch you up

Hi Kris

Good to hear from you and that you seem to be in good spirits.  Lets just assume that it is all good news and that the surgeons will sort you out on Monday.

Hope your dad packs heavy clothes.  Presumably it will be a good bit colder than home.

I know what you mean about the news of Peter.  He was one of the original posters for both of us and I think that deep down we thought he would beat the odds and defeat this cancer.  I know that thought gave me hope.  So, even though we knew he was becoming more ill the thought was there that he would get through it.  That made his passing more of a shock to me.

But keep positive: we are still here and going strong!

Very best wishes.

Ron

Kris...So much more will be known after the upcoming surgery.  Until then my fingers, toes and whatever else I can cross will be locked  in a permanent position.  The upcoming bypass to your stomach should allow you eat again which I am sure will lift your spirits immensely.
Hugs, hugs, and more hugs coming your way.

Dear Kris, so good to hear from you.  I hope and pray that all goes well and like you told your doctor, it's not cancer.  I'm sorry you've been dealing with this since December.  You are not a drama queen. This is a lot to deal with and take in.  Anyone would be overwhelmed.  Prayers and positive thoughts coming to you from NC.

Peter, in his introspective way of navigating life, made this comforting comment.  His legacy is undeniable.

I don't want a pickle, just want to ride on my motor sycle"

It's hard to do the inner work and face the tasks that become the true
rewards of this life. Much more fun to hop on my bike and just ride.
Not that this doesn't have a place, where ever we renew ourselves,
loose the busy_ness of our lives, it's a critical piece we must make
time for to live well.

Hi Kris,
Thanks for checking in.  I was wondering how you are doing.
Thoughts and prayers from me too will be with you.  You are not a drama queen - you are dealing with a very serious heath problem and you shouldn't apologize for your feelings!  We are here to support and love you.

Marion, thanks for posting the quote from Peter.  I find myself in that place, too, as I try to lose the business of life.  That is why I'm contemplating retirement in a couple of months.  Dealing with work on top of everything else is just getting to be too much.

Lisa....I believe when we follow our hearts although, thinking through our options, the decisions we make will be right for us.  Retirement could be another beginning.

Re: I am on a 5 hour hospital parole so I thought I would catch you up

Kris... wish you the most positive outcome tomorrow with your prodcedure.  This cc just likes to keep on poppoing up and aggravating the crap out of us.  Keep that smiling face and positive attitude of hope.  Your young and full of stamina.  Destress ,dont, let that hamper your outcome.  I had scan today and review tomorrow to see if the last three months of tarceva how been doing any good.  I'm hopeful and staying as relaxed as possible.  Stress has such an important role and we can control that with different techniques.  Try them all.  Peter was a shining example of dealing with stress.  Again, my most positive vibes are coming your way!
Bless You,
Jeff G.

Re: I am on a 5 hour hospital parole so I thought I would catch you up

Kris

As Darla said, you do have all of us behind you...so many prayers and so many of the  most positive of thoughts for the best of all outcomes.  That has just got to be a VERY powerful force!  I know this must be such a difficult time, but try your best to stay in the very moment your in and not to go to all the "what if" places.  I know I'm an optimistic at heart, but I just can't help but feel that this is just something else (scar tissue, adhesions)...don't forget ALL of the good news that you've had.

Sending all my wishes for very good news and a quick recovery!

Kris,

You are young and strong and full of life and energy. You will get though this just fine! All your tests are pointing in the right direction. And just think, soon they will have your bad digestion all sorted out and you will feel soooooo much better. What's the first thing you're going to eat when they let you have "real food"??

A big hug from

the other Kris(tin)

Peace, hope, and healing to all!

Re: I am on a 5 hour hospital parole so I thought I would catch you up

Kris,

A drama queen needs to have a really good hat, you know, the kind of hat that makes people turn and stare, makes them wonder if you are a slightly famous person whose name is on the tip of their tongue. Do you have such a hat? I can't tell you how much attitude a hat can give one. I don't think any studies have been done on cool hats vs. cc but there could be some anecdotal evidence out there. My advice--it can't hurt and there are no side effects.

Don't know where this thought came from, Kris, you seem to bring out the ridiculous in me.

Hoping for good news always,

Patty
