Topic: Update on my Tarceva Treatment

Hi Everyone,  Well saw the Oncologist today and after almost 3 months of using tarceva, It showed to be non effected.  All tumor areas have increased in size.  It had no effect at all.  He stated after a lenghty review that I'm sorry tosay, but there is nothing else I can offer you.  He said to keep up with hospice and if down the road you notice any juandice to let him know so that a stent can be put in.  If any trials come available on cholangiocarcinoma mets he would let me know.  That's about it for now.  Accept the Lords giduance and continue to hope for a miracle.  Also continue my own research.
God Bless,
Jeff G.

Re: Update on my Tarceva Treatment

Well, my dear dear Jeff, this isn't the report card we were all hoping for you, but you certainly don't need any tutoring.  All the doctors know you're smarter than they are about cholangio.   If I didn't follow your advice, I never would have gone to the mountains the 3 or 4 times I did among another snippets of sound advice that has helped me cross a bump.   I don't even know what to say except you're living your life to the fullest each day, and it takes strength to do that.  I'm not doing that, and I'm ashamed of myself when I think of you.      Every night the name Jeff is in my prayers, and it will continue to be.  You have so much faith, attitude, and love to sustain you, Jeff,  that I am humbled to be one of your web girls.

Faith in you, Jeff
Sophie

Re: Update on my Tarceva Treatment

Jeff,

You are amazing, taking it all with aplomb. It's true what Sophie says and I have said it before, you are a walking encyclopedia on cc. Keep on keeping on, we're right there with you.

Re: Update on my Tarceva Treatment

Welp Jeff,

This is not the answer we wanted.  You continue to amaze and strenghten all of our resolve in dealing with this monster of a disease.  Hang in there and continue to keep the faith.

As always, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

hugs,

Pam

Re: Update on my Tarceva Treatment

Jeff,
I just ditto everything everybody else has said. We love you Jeff and pray that you will continue to stay strong until that cure comes. It could be one lab mistake away. I've read how often things are discovered completely unintentionally from a mistake that was made during research. So who knows? Take care and keep up the positive attitude.Bless you and your family.      Mary

Re: Update on my Tarceva Treatment

Hey Jeff, accepting the Lord's guidance is easier said than done, but I know you will just as Charlie and I have.  We pray for strength and peace for all of us and acceptance of God's will for us.

Much love,
Carol

Re: Update on my Tarceva Treatment

Hi Jeff,
I am sorry your news was not better, but have hopes that something else will crop up to help you - a result of your research, maybe - and will say a prayer to our lord to be with you in your search.

Re: Update on my Tarceva Treatment

Hello Jeff:  I'm kind of new and quiet.  When I first found this website, I kept seeing your helpful advice and optimism.  Though my Mom had already left us, I still kept on reading in the hopes that there is some good news.  You were always the good news (even when it was bad).  You made a difference to a lot of us.  Thank you.

Re: Update on my Tarceva Treatment

Hi, Jeff: I was hoping for better news, though I am glad that you gave the Tarceva a try. I saw my onco doc today at MD Anderson, and he says that Tarceva is still "trial and error", and they don't know yet why some respond and others don't. You are brave for giving it a shot! My hat is off to you, as always. You are my favorite poster; please continue to contribute! Sending you good wishes every day.
