Topic: Antrodia Camphorata and AHCC

I've heard a lot about AHCC, but it took a lot of digging to find Antrodia Camphorata.   This is found in Taiwan only and is touted to reverse some cancers (liver being one of them) anti-neuropathy, immune system booster plus a host of other good things.

I have been taking it since my resection and have no way of knowing if it's doing anything for the cancer (2 tumors have recurred at the edge of the resection site) but I feel fantastic and sometimes think I may wake up and it will be a bad dream.

Has any heard of or tried this mushroom?   It is expensive about $145. for a weeks supply as you have to take at least 9 a day.

My prayers are will you all.

Re: Antrodia Camphorata and AHCC

Hi Jane, that's great news that you're feeling so fantastic... & it's not a dream!

I see there is some recent 2008 research out on Antrodia Camphorata...

Research study:
"New apoptosis therapy study findings recently were reported by researchers at Kaohsiung Medical University, Graduate Institute of Natural Products"

Here is a link to what appears to be author-researcher Mei-Chin (M.C.) Lu's e-mail.

May be worth pulsing the author for where to purchase (if it would give you a lower price) or if any studies are underway that would be a candidate for.

Additional, the USPTO makes reference to Nov. 2008 issued Patent 7,456,225, "Liver protection compounds of the cyclohexenone type from Antrodia camphorata", to assignee Golden Biotechnology Corporation (Taiwan). The patent info notes that the prevalence of liver diseases is quite high in Taiwan, and the price of Antrodia camphorata is very expensive due to the extremely slow growth rate of natural Antrodia camphorata that only grows between Junes to October.

The recent patent activity by a biotech company would likely suggest that someone feels there's a profitable market for the substance. As the source notes, "Although Antrodia camphorata extracts were reported to have the abovementioned effects from previous experiments, and the components were analyzed in succession, further experiments are needed to identify the effective composition for liver protection. The application in liver diseases treatment and prevention of components from Antrodia camphorata extracts will be of great beneficial effects from studies of liver protection if the real effective composition is found."

All 9 USPTO-Antrodia Camphorata referenced developments are out of Taiwan.

Keep feeling fantastic!
