One month ago my wife Marjorie died from the unmitigated ravages of cholangiocarcinoma following a deeply difficult year of radiation, several chemo regimens, travel to medical centers in Minnesota and in Washington state, big and minor surgical procedures---often followed by infection and incision wounds not healing properly. She was 56. There really aren't words. 'Bereft' is so inadequate. It's a loss that seems unbearable.
She had been strong, athletic, and adventurous. A backpacking trip in Patagonia had been planned. She was a writer and an activist. A book of her poetry is due to be published soon and a novel (her second) will appear later. One of several obituaries is at bellwetherprize.org
