Topic: Sensitive - A goodbye in photos
"At first, it may not seem unusual that photography student Briony Campbell decided to point her lens at her father for a series of personal portraits.
However her father, David Campbell - a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist - agreed to be photographed in the last six months of his life as he was dying from bile duct cancer.
In the photo series, which she called The Dad Project, Briony unflinchingly photographed his physical deterioration, his surroundings, his treatment, and her own reaction in pictures - pictures which are sometimes bleak, sometimes uplifting, and often deeply moving."
I debated whether or not to post this, but I decided that if it helped even one person then it was worth doing so. The above link has an interview with the photographer talking about her experiences with her dad during this time, and one thing that really stood out for me was when she talks about having discussions with her dad during his last days. This struck a chord with me, as it is coming up on 6 months since I was having these same conversations with my dad under the same circumstances.
Here's is a link to Briony's photos. Again, it strikes the same chord with me as I was here with my dad last December.
I hope I haven't upset or offended anyone by posting this.
