Topic: San Antonio, Texas

Has anyone done clinical trials through the University of Texas in San Antonio?  My mother will start receiving treatment on Monday 3/28/2011 and I was wondering if anyone had anything good/bad to say about their experience with the drugs/procedures and team of doctors.  We are all nervous about this experience.  Not only because of it being a "trial" but because mom will be 9 1/2 hours away from home! sad

Ashley - I don't know much about the clinical trials done at San Antonio, but one of the men I worked with was treated there for a rare form of leukemia and he is now cancer free.  His daughter (who is a brilliant physician herself and lives in California) recommended he go there because of their expertise, so I think your Mom will be in good hands.  As for clinical trials, my son did several and his doctors were very cautious about watching him for bad side effects, etc.  They would stop whatever trial immediately if it did not seem to be working for him.  Good luck.  I know it is scary being that far from home.  We'll be thinking of you and your Mom and hoping for good outcomes - Nancy
