Topic: Pain after external drain is taken out

My dad has come out of hospital today.  All the while he was in there he had no pain.  Today they have taken out his external drain and he is alot of discomfort.  Is this normal and how long will it last?

Devoted Daughter to the most wonderful Dad a girl could ask for.  Sadly lost his battle on 19.02.11, peacefully in the arms of Mom and I.  As requested by Dad "we will keep on smiling".

what is external drain / internal drain ? what is the procedure ? is it painful ?

Sedation is used for either drain.
