Topic: chemo and radiation at same time?

Most of the posts that I see, the treatment plan is for chemotherapy, then radiation. Has anyone gone thru chemo and radiation at the same time?
Doctor at Cleveland Clinic wants to start Gemzar 6 months along with 5 weeks of IMRT radiation treatments.

I've taken oral chemo, Xeloda, with radiation, but never anything IV.

When first diagnosed 2 1/2 years ago I had 24/7 FU-5 chemo (using a pic line) and 28 radiation treatments during the same time frame.  The tumor never shrank, but it definitely stopped it in it's tracks as it's been stable ever since.

I  also had the same treatment as Kathyb. I had 6 weeks of 5 days a week radiation with 24/7 5FU chemo pump adminsterd thru my port. I had no major side effects untill all was done and then I was extremely tired, just climbed in my recliner and stayed there!!!.

Thanks so much for the responses. If this treatment can stop the growth of the tumor, that'll be great. My mom has a tumor about 5 cm diameter and she is asymptomatic.  If it can shrink it, it'll be even better.  Just have to pray that she'll tolerate the treatment well.
