Re: Part 2: Clean so far (sort of ...)

Kris-I would love to split the cost with you!! I am out of "drop by range", but I would love to help our CC angel Kim and all she does! If you email me your address I will send my share. I hope you will let me help.
Jim-I have my surgery on Tuesday and my mass is 7mm. I just keep hearing my doctor say "Your cancer is so aggressive, we would expect it to come back more aggressive", those are my words of comfort. Barnes is #9 in the nation, so like your hospital, is on top of and very aggresive in my care. I knew my cat scan find before I made it home that day, and it will be 2 weeks from finding to consult  t osurgery!! My doctor also said couple of days in hospital, but the last time I woke up 3 weeks later with a new liver!!! LOL!!
Lots of prayers-Cathy

I wish I could, but, Kris, you are going.  I'll pickup the other half.  Give Kim and D hugs and kisses.

Re: Part 2: Clean so far (sort of ...)

Hey, I wasn't asking! I just wondered if I would meet anyone there that I "know". I haven't even met Kim or Denise yet.
But if you want to mail me a donation I will get it to Kim or Denise. Better yet, if they have easily mailable prizes I'll put you in for them! smile
I'm a pretty happy, semi-outgoing person, but going there alone... well... that will take some thought from me.

Kim knows your coming and you don't need a ticket!  She knows to look for the tall one!  No donation needed, nor expected, but you must show up.  I'm sure the crowd of S Pilly Italians will welcome you with open arms.  Plus Kim and D are now expecting you.

Re: Part 2: Clean so far (sort of ...)

Thank you Jim and Cathy. I will accept as graciously as possible. Which in my case is hard, as I'm so darned independent!
I don't like this stupid condition as I have to rely on friends to help me... and that's hard for me to do! But I'm trying to learn.
So thank you and barring bad snowfall I will give Kim and Denise a hug for you. big_smile

Re: Part 2: Clean so far (sort of ...)

Kris,

Have a great time at the benefit. Just remember all of us will be there with you in spirit. I sure would have loved to go and so would Lauren. We love Kim and Denise. Please give them a hug from us. They are two awesome ladies! I am sure they will welcome you warmly. I don't think either one of them has ever known a stranger. They make friends with you the second they talk to you. Have fun and have a great time.

Love, -Pam

Re: Part 2: Clean so far (sort of ...)

Well, just got back to NJ Sat from having a small adeno carcenoma removed Wed afternoon from my rt lung at NY Presbyterian.  Dr Josh Sonett was the surgeon and he's pretty sure he got it all.  Now's just to wait for the final path report.  I'm hoping for a new lung primary and no cc mets.  We'll know in a week to 10 days.  Surgery was totally unremarkable and recovery a piece of cake.  Just some swelling and soreness at the incision site and the garden hose drain hole.

Just another bump in the cancer road!

Heading home to MD in a few hours.

Re: Part 2: Clean so far (sort of ...)

Time to end this thread.  The path report wasn't good.  The feature removed from the right lung was cc and there is micro cc in the pleural fluid around the lung.  I was toying with restarting chemo, but according to my dear onc Abby, it's typically not effective if there are no visible tumors present.  She said if cc represents in either lung, Dr Sonett can just remove it again and again as needed.  Just have to hope it doesn't pop up in an inoperable place.  My MD onc knew Dr Sonett when they both were at Univ of MD medical school, and he said Dr Sonett has a huge reputation.  I vote to stick with overachievers every time.

Re: Part 2: Clean so far (sort of ...)

Jim,  Bad news - cc mets. Good news - no chemo! Good news - they removed the nasty and will remove any others that pop up! Good news -Dr. Sonnett = huge reputation! Three against one for good news! Sending you healing wishes and hugs. Nancy

Re: Part 2: Clean so far (sort of ...)

Jim,

I vote for you to keep the thread. You have great doctors that are watching you like a hawk.  They removed the bad spot in your lung. I'm wishing you all the best. By the way, I saw your puppy on Facebook and she is a beauty. Loved the pics on the beach. Take care.

Jim,

I'm so sorry to hear it was cc, but it's great it was removed!  Hang in there.  You are in my prayers.

Re: Part 2: Clean so far (sort of ...)

Hi Jim,

Just read this thread....sorry that I have been AWOL for awhile.  I just posted that this disease (for most, it appears) is a lot like the carnival game "Whack-A-Mole" and you just have to keep pounding when it pops back up again.

I am praying for your continued strength and courage in this battle...

I just heard of a recent vaccine for cancer that was developed in Tel Aviv and is now in clinical trial:

It sounds very promising for those who have been battling cancer repeatedly.

Please continue to let us know how you are doing and if there is anything we can do to help.

Prayers continuing...

Patti
