Topic: Universal Cancer Vaccine developed in Tel Aviv - in clinical trial now

Hi folks!  I received a "tweet" last week with the following breakthrough information about a "universal cancer vaccine" (developed in Israel) that is in clinical trial NOW:  http://soc.li/0MDgO0O

In researching, I was able to find two additional articles that related to the MUC1, and indicated some success with Cholangiocarcinoma:
http://jjco.oxfordjournals.org/content/ … 6.full.pdf
http://www.wjgnet.com/1007-9327/11/4661.pdf

I will be looking into this further and will post more information as I find it.

Please let me know if any of you have heard about this yet.

Wishing everyone the best!

Patti

This new vaccine has been all over the news recently. As usual, media has blown the story out of proportion.

Here's a more realistic view from a specialized source, Vaccines Industry Newsletter.

'Universal' cancer vaccine not miraculous but could bring hope

Realistically, it is a story about interim Phase I/II data, so by its very nature it's unpublished and hasn't been peer reviewed, and is only from a small group of patients with a single type of cancer. And realistically, it is years off the market. But the results are at the very least interesting, and support the other clinical and preclinical research going ahead with MUC1.

Thanks for your links Patti and I look forward to reading more of them.

Re: Universal Cancer Vaccine developed in Tel Aviv - in clinical trial now

Thanks Eli & Gavin for the clarifying information!  Much appreciated!  I did receive this information from my youngest brother who was researching this vaccine, as well:

"I looked on clinicaltrials.gov and typed in MUC1.  I didn’t see any cholangio trials, but did find a trial at Pitt that is being performed at Pitt for people with advanced colon polyps.

http://www.clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/ … amp;rank=2

I just talked to the contact person for that trial.  She said that Bruce would probably not be eligible for that trial but should talk to Dr. Marks about it, since there may be other trials going on."

Thanks again for your quick replies and additional data!

Best always,

Patti
