Topic: Here´s to life!!

Happy to be able to tell you that I yesterday  completed my second Gothenburg halfmarathon after my diagnosis of unresectable incurable advanced cholangiocarcinoma the 1st of April 2010. The eighth time I run this race.

Exactly one month after my 6th chemoembolization (it´s been a tough month..) and with anemia I´m so happy and proud for my worst time ever wink 2.07.

The BIG one is coming up in three weeks though, Stockholm Marathon... Send me some energy for the last trainingsessions, please smile

That is awesome Maria!!  Congrats and good luck with the Stockholm marathon. 
I wonder if you have a mantra when you run, something you say to yourself to keep your self going and could share it?

Hi Maria,

I am so glad you are doing well.  Go, girl, and keep training and running.  Good luck in the Stockholm marathon.  I can't believe you have just had your 6th chemoembolization and still able to compete as you do.  John had his 2nd one on April 17 and things have gone down hill since then.  He has been terribly ill and had to spend a week in the hospital two weeks ago.  He has lost about 22 lbs. in the last week and is very weak and can't tolerate food that much.  I have tried some of Lainy's suggestions that she used for Teddy and some of the other ideas I have seen on this site, so I'm hoping that things will start to turn around.   He did manage to get up for a few hours yesterday and today, and his eyes seem more alert.  The doctors seem to think that some of the chemo beads got into his blood vessels and arteries, which made him so sick and in excruciating pain.  They also had him on so much pain meds that everything was working against him.   I take him back to his oncologist tomorrow and then he has an MRI at UVA on Thursday.     Just keep doing what you're doing because it seems to work for you.  Best wishes,  PeggyP

Randi; Most of the time I don´t need any mantra as I LOVE running. I run in beautiful surroundings, and it helps a lot. What i do is that I STRONGLY believe that running is curing me, and I FEEL how it is helping me to stay healthy. That´s enough for me to keep on, even when it´s harder.

Peggy; I´ve reacted very differently to the embolizations I´ve done. This one was the absolutely hardest one. They used small beads this time - maybe that was why. I had a lot of pain and fever for weeks. I started to feel "normal" a week ago.

Kathy and Gerry,
I ran my marathon, in a way I never would have imagined!
But as three days before I got the news that my tumors had started growing again and I'm back on chemo I didn't post it in this section but in General discussions.

The rained poured down constantly, it was +4 C and wind 10-18 m/s.... Even here in Sweden this is extremely rare in June!! But I was happy all the way, just by being able to start!  I'm totally overwhelmed that I could do it in 4.27 h.
I must have very powerful angels around me!

Maria....sorry for chiming in, but I must comment on the incredible time of 4.27 hours.  And, that in the most adverse weather conditions; you are fantastic.  Congratulations.

Maria. Thanks for updating us!  I consider it good news that you ran that distance!!! I would consider it good news without cc. You are truly an inspiration. Please keep us posted. I will check the other site for recent news. If anyone doubts the inspiration of messages, I can give testimony that  you have inspired me during this up and downhill time.  I went back purposely to look for you because I remembered the words of one of your posts.
