Topic: PACKERS

Sorry boys, (Gavin & Percy)  Packers beat the Bears! Now lets see, since I live in Phoenix should it be the Cardinals or the Packers, Cardnials or the Packers..... silly me, the Packers of course. Did you know that the Packers  are the only team ever that is owned by the people of Greenbay WI? I bet Teddy was one happy guy tonight.

Re: PACKERS

I knew that!!! And the ownership of the tickets gets passed down when family members die.... I know that, too.
Being a Vikings fan, all I can say is too bad one of them had to win. haha

Kris, I did not know that the ownership gets passed down. What a novel idea! Sharing the wealth and joy and pride!

Re: PACKERS

Well, they thought of it, they own it, and it is a very tight and family orientated community! But I do like my Cardinals out here too. Then again Kris, on a football night if someone called and said, lets go dancing or to Kareoke, guess what I would do? I have to be honest about it. Wonder if I remember how to dance?

Re: PACKERS

Well done you Cheeseheads! I missed most of the game, saw the first q and that was that. And yes, I knew that they were owned by their fans who can buy shares in them every so often. But for a financial investment, I think I'd pass on that!

Apologies for just seeing this post today. Not been around since Thurs evening my time as mum is in a bad way again. Hosp yesterday and out last night thankfully but is not doing good. Has hard clumps of mucas stuck in her tubes that she can't get out. Only found that out last night after the  A&E doc took a look at her CT from last September.......Needless to say, I was raging when I heard that as they never told us about them last year!!!

Re: PACKERS

Thanks Lainy, I will do. What we got told last night all ties in with why mum was having such a hard time with the coughing, choking and retching etc. And it ties in as well with what she says about her throat when she goes through it all. So, as usual they say use the mucodyne to try and break it up as that is all they can do. Doc said that if it happened to someone who's lungs weren't as weak as mums then they would be able to cough it out eventually. But, as mums lungs are so weak that is why she can't cough them out.

Doc said that all mums vitals were ok, no heart attack or anything like that so that was ggood. Then they said she could go home without getting a chjest xray, I said no, I wanted a chest xray done so they did one and it came back clean, no signs of infection or anything like that which is good.

But I persevered with the doc and he thinks mum may have heart failure and that is what is causing the breathlessness to be as bad as it is. The hard mucus cuasing the coughing etc and heart failure maybe causing the breathlessness. So, finally we may be getting somewhere but we'll have to wait and see. Need to get her seen by her gp this week as the A&E doc recommenends that she have all her meds reviewed and get a referal if she can to a cardiologist.

A&E doc can't refer her for that so he says and they couldn't keep her in as there was nothing for them to treat there and then. Was not a happy chappy about that at all, but still, we could be making some progress. Hopefully as this can't go on like this for much longer. I'll let you know how things go next week.

Re: PACKERS

Forgot to say.....the next doctor that says to us to "just take the mucodyne, just keep taking it, up the dose etc" is gonna get force fed it from me to see how they like what it does to them!!!!! wink

Re: PACKERS

Gavin...good job, but then you have always shown to be a fantastic son to your parents.  Gavin, help me understand please: does this hospital not have a cardiologist on duty?

Re: PACKERS

Thank you Marion! Yes Ninewells is a huge hospital with a large cardio dept, docs, specialists etc for inpatients and outpatients too. But, when someone gets taken to A&E here they say that they can and will only treat someone if they have something that they know for sure they have. Then they will treat them if it is a minor thing in A&E, or if it is something more serious then they will be admitted to hospital there and then and get moved to the appropriate ward. EG - when mum was rushed in after hear heart attacks, pneumonia etc then she went into A&E, they stabilised her then moved her to the right wards.

This time, the A&E doc suspects that mum may have heart failure based on her long term symptoms etc so she has to go through her local GP who then has to refer her if he agrees back to the same hospital to see the cardiologist as an outpatient. I guess based on the data and info they collected at the time that they didn't think that what mum was going through on Friday was serious enough for them to admit her to the hospital there and then. I disagreed but I can't force them to admit her. Madness I know and I hate that system! I said to him why couldn't he refer mum to a cardiologis as an outpatient but thats not how it works. Mum is under her GP's care and he has to do it if he suspects heart failuer. Of course, if an emergency situation arises in the meantime it means an ambulance, back to A&E and then into the wards for further assesment and treatment. Head, bang, wall, head, bang wall and repeat......

So this week, get mum to the GP, say to him what we were told yesterday and see waht he says and push for that referal.

Hugs back at you,

Gavin

Re: PACKERS

Hi,
Lainy, As a Chicagoian, I get used to disappointment  about The BEARS & the CUBS. As  I told Gavin, watch out for the 49 er's , I think both of the BEAR & the PACKERS has to go thru the 49er before the Packers and the Bears has a chance to go to the super bowls.

Gavin, I am sorry not to notice earlier about your mum' situation, please say hi to her and wishing her a speedy recovery. If you need anything, please ask.
God bless.

Re: PACKERS

Thanks everyone! Mum is feeling a lot better today and is getting around the flat a lot easier too. She is able to get to the toilet without stopping every 3 times for a breath so that is much better than the last few days. I made sure that she is using her indoor walking frame for support and help every time she moves and that is helping too. I know she doesn't like using it in the house but at certain times needs must and all that. And it gives her more confidence too so that is good and she got a good sleep last night as well and that certainly helps.  Friday night she couldn't even get off of the toilet so today is progress. Will go make an app with her GP tomorrow, just hope I can get one for this week. Fingers crossed for the progress to continue!

Yes Marion, a crazy system we have here is it not!

And thanks Percy, for sure I'll say hi to mum from you and I might take you up on your offer of help too.

And thank you too Randi, for sure I'll pass on your best wishes to my mum as well.

Thanks all and hugs to you all as well,

Gavin

Re: PACKERS

Gavin:
Sorry to hear your mum had such a bad weekend, but I'm happy to hear she's doing a bit better. Keep on those doctors: it seems that's the only way we get any answers at all anymore... just bug them until they finally tell you or do what tests you want, etc... I'm learning that, too!
I will keep her in my prayers tonight that she gets seen quickly and all goes well.

Re: PACKERS

Thank you Kris, thank you very much indeed. Today I got mum an app with her gp for Friday, that was the earliest that I could get. But mum has just said to me that she wants me to get either her's or any gp out tom morning as she ain't doing so good right now. This bloody COPD, it's horrific.

Hugs to you,

Gavin
