Re: a little on george today

Thank you Lynn. I was thinking about you but knew you would be busy. I am so glad George had company! Has Hospice sent anything yet? Are you getting George a Hospital bed and a walker? They ususally send everything right away. Do not be afraid to keep on them! Especially for pain! Hiccups could be from anything. Teddy had them non stop after his Whipple for months and we tried everything. Finally a Pharmacist recommended Brioske (sp) which is like a ground Alka Seltzer in looks. After months of terrible hiccups they left with only 2 doses in an hour! You can get it at CVS or Walgreens. The other thing is a teaspoon of sugar which has worked for some. Good luck today and again push for what he needs. You are doing a great job, Lynn. Did George sit on his porch?

Re: a little on george today

thank you Lainy, yes he sat out there only a few times tho,im waiting on hospice, george told them in the hospital he did not want a bed, only his bed.hes in quite a bit of pain now,i just gave him his meds.i believe his sister and brother in law will help me with him this afternoon..

Re: a little on george today

I am so glad you have people with you. I am wondering, since I don't know much about how they work this, if you should call the Treatment Center and ask if you should still take him in with the pain he is in? I sure hope they get the pain under control. Has he talked with his daughter again?

Re: a little on george today

p.s.Lynn. I would push for the bed! It will prevent him from falling out of bed, it is more comfortable and the rails can help him sit up and down. Teddy LOVED his hospital bed, it sure saves on their energy and pain as well.  Also with a living room set up it gives the Nurses more room to work in and is a good place to be when visitors are there.

Re: a little on george today

YEA! I am so happy you felt the comfort and George too. Now you only have to concentrate on George and in an easier way, I hope. I know it is a big step for anyone who has to take it but it is the best thing you could have done.

Re: a little on george today

Hi Lynn and thanks for the update. Honestly, I know you are missing things already but I rather hear George is sleeping then being in pain or having nausea. Let's hope George finds something to holler about tonight! In the meantime take advantage and rest, yoursel!

Re: a little on george today

hello everybody, sorry for the delay on update, spending every waking moment with george, hes ok,his pain is getting worse,we are working on upping the doses,he is more comfortable being as still as can be,so he dos'nt get up much, when he dose,he has a hard time walking. We had two of the nicest social workers come out friday,i think george found his new best friends, they stayed for 2 hrs listening to southern gospel music and talking, george couldnt stop talking about them, and how great they are...they just made his day.well thats all for now,be back later, love and blessings all,Lynn

Re: a little on george today

Hi Lynn,

It is sad to hear that George is in pain. I am happy he enjoyed his social workers. That is great he had such a good time with them. I am hoping he can find a balance with his meds to become pain free. All the best to you and George. I am praying for God to give you both strength and peace.

Love, -Pam

Re: a little on george today

Lynn, I am so relieved that you posted as I have been thinking so much about the 2 of you. I didn't want to bother you as I know how busy you are.  I am sorry to hear about the pain and I hope hospice can get it under control. George is a good example of how life becomes easier when you allow Hospice to come in. And, Lynn you have been amazing! I have you both in my thoughts and prayers and sending tons of love your way

Re: a little on george today

good morning everyone, something funny and cute just happened,i heard the stereo come on in the bedroom,i walk in and see george dancing almost like he use to,he says to me "i still got it but theres nothing back there to shake anymore"i thought i would share that with you all, what a great moment...love and blessings ...Lynn

Re: a little on george today

Oh, Lynn, how precious is that????  Another memory to store away! I remember Teddy coming in to the kitchen without the walker and I said, where is your walker, you will fall". He held out his and said, "I just wanted to dance with you". He then started singing our song and we danced!  These  guys, they really know how to get to us! Love is grand!
