Topic: Dan has taken a turn for the worse

Dan has been sleeping a lot this past weekend and this morning I wasn't able to wake him.  He's been a little responsive but only for seconds at a time.  The nurse was here and thought it might the increased dose of methadone but I don't think so.   I just want him to go peacefully.   He's twitching a lot.  I've been giving him morphine and ativan.   
I never expected this day to come.   Who will I be without him?

Oh Dear Peony,

I am so sorry it has come to this point.  I have been where you are now and know what you are thinking and feeling.  It's not easy, but Dan's comfort and peace are what's important right now.  The rest will all take care of itself.  Just be there for him.  That's all you can do at this point.

None of this is easy, but trust me.  You will be OK.  We are all stronger than we ever thought we could be and everything will work itself out in time.

Just know that we are all here for you to help and support you in any way that we can.

Know that I am thinking of you and praying things will work out as they should.

Oh, Laurie, I am so sorry about Dan. Only if you want,  I have some things I can e mail you just send me your e mail and OK to do this. I am by your side, you are not alone! When the time comes, you will still be Laurie and you will be OK as that is what Dan would want and you are doing it for him. Even though he is sleeping, talk to him, tell him you love him as he does hear you, touch his arms softly so he knows he is not alone. Let me know what I can do. My heart is breaking for you both and I am sending Prayers out to you.

Dans sisters are here .  They are all very close.  He's in and out but he knows they are here.  I will continue to talk to him.
