Topic: I am so happy....

Since the beginning of November I have been on the cc rollercoaster. My doctor thought that the cancer had returned. I had a ct, MRI and PET scans with inconclusive results. I went back to the US and met with Dr. Sanoff at UNC-Chapel Hill. She too was unable to tell if the cancer was back or not. My original surgon in Scotland was sent the blood tests and scans and he too was unsure of what was happening. I have had 2 PTC brushings which came back negative, but my Swedish doctor was unconvinced as I also had a suspicious lymph node. That was tested as well as having tissue samples taken. In the last 3 months I have had 6 surgeries! Well, my latest results came back. The last MRI looked somewhat normal-the suspicous spot is clearing up. The lymphnode was clean and so was the latest brush scrapings and tissue sample. My bloodwork is now normal also. So final result after 4 months of tests, scans, and stress....it was a FALSE ALARM!!!! I had sludge. There is discussion of giving me medicine to help prevent it in the future, but nothing has been decided.

I AM SO HAPPY!!!! I have been so off center these last couple of months. My sister and I were fighting about me not being aggressive enough with the doctors. My husband and I have been on eggshells. Now, we can plan again for our furture.

I will have another scan in 3 months and the game starts over, but for now, I will bask in life.

Re: I am so happy....

I am so, so, so happy for you! Isn't it a wonderful feeling?

My last scan was last week, and it found the tumors were still stable/ unchanged (they have been for 14 months) and I said to my hisband on the way home from the hospital, I feel like my whole body is made out of clear blue sky right now. And I don't have to go back for 4 months.

I know EXACTLY what you mean-- basking in life! Please go and enjoy every minute of every day!

Kristin

Peace, hope, and healing to all!

Re: I am so happy....

Kris,

That's FABULOUS news!!!  I can only imagine how relieved you must feel, and so back in control of your life.  I am so thrilled and happy, your news has made a good day so much better!!!  Not to take away your thunder, but I had another scan today and I am all clear too!  That makes 14 months post-lobectomy and I don't have to go back for 6 months!  My doc was thrilled, but no more than I was!!!  And with your good news...my day is complete, so I might as well go to bed!  Congratulations many times over!!!   I have been thinking about you a lot lately.

Re: I am so happy....

Thanks everyone. I am still not quite digesting it all. My husbands office has been so supportive through everything, covering for him, giving him time off for all my hospital excursions. Today when he gave them the news, a couple of his coworkers cried and one stopped by the house with flowers. I am so well taken care of here, even though it is not my "home".

The local hospital called today and they will get in touch with the doctors in Gothanburg to get the official go ahead to remove the drain and it is possible it will be out by this weekend! Then I can give the area a REALLY good scratch!

Sue, I am so glad you had a clean scan as well. 14 months for the both of us!!! We are back on track as cancer buddies!!

Kristin, so you too feel like sky sometimes?!? And I thought that it was just a result of how much paste I ate as a child.

OK...everyone who can....GO OUT AND BASK! That is an order, if not I might send Barb (she is the commander) to you.

Thanks again for everyones kind words and support.

Re: I am so happy....

Thanks for everyones kind wishes..

Now I will be firm, I have given it a couple of days................

Mary and Sue,
I am officially kicking you off of my thread and am demanding you two make your own threads in the Good News Section. Your families deserve all the good wishes I have received. Other patients need to see more posts of good news since it gives everyone hope. I know sometimes we feel a little guilty when we have good news, but the payback is it spreads hope. Now go post your good news and spread that hope! Now I say! smile
