Topic: NEED SOME HELP

Hi Everyone,

I finished my last chemo of Cisplatin/Gemzar combo on Valentine's day. Yay!!
I thought I would start to feel lots better; but, Im not feeling so hot since then.
Nauseated and really fatigued; which doesn't help much since Im working full
time.  Im trying to ride the nausea out and trying to keep food in my stomach.

Wonder if anyone has had this happen and did you take anything  or just ride it
out like Im doing?  I just hate to take anything right now.

Hi,
One tablespoonful of ginger juice(fresh)every six hours will do. Try warm milk or soy milk first with toast, then other protein without much fat will do.

Hi Diane,

It hasn't been that long since your last chemo, so hopefully this is just the effects of chemo. If it continues, I would call your doctor to see if this is normal, mostly for peace of mind. Lauren gets nauseous from time to time and finds that having a little bit of carbs in her stomach helps such as crackers, rice, or potatoes. She also swears that chewing mint gum settles her stomach. I hope this is just a temporary condition and you are back to feeling well soon.

Small meals staggered throughout the day, foods that appeal to you, but try to avoid sweet or fatty things.  Sip on plenty of fluids void of carbonation throughout the day.
Try to stay away from unpleasant smells that may trigger nausea and try to wear loosefitting clothing.  Relaxing when possible and deep breathing may also help. If the Ginger does not help then you may need additional medication.
