Topic: GTX

I just finished my first complete 2 week cycle of GTX. Man I am TIRED!!! I'm so glad to get a break, it's hard to believe I have been through 28 rounds of chemo! Only other side effect is thrush in my mouth. The doctor called in something for it today. I hope it's better by thanksgiving, because I'm cooking a huge dinner, and I wanna eat!! My hair isn't falling out yet, so maybe I will get to keep it!

Anyways...I wanted to see if anyone else is doing GTX.

I dont know how you do it, but you sound great, though I know you don't feel great. You have come a long way...28 rounds! Im So impressed you're cooking a big Thanksgiving dinner!
I wonder can you explain  what is considered a "round" of chemo. My sister has gem-Cis every other week (week off in between). Everyone seems to count differently what a cycle or round is. We are very early in this CC ride.
Best wishes getting the thrush under control. I work in a dental office so we treat that sometimes with  RX nystatin rinse that you swish, then swallow.

Willow....GTX is comprised of Gemzar, Taxatere, and Xeloda.

Hi Tiff, I have not heard of GTX until now but just want to say you are my HERO! Just a suggestion for Thanksgiving...I start now and do some prep every day as I just can't do it all in one day. My table is set and tomorrow I will peel my white potatoes and keep them in the fridge in water. I will boil my Yams and cube my bread for stuffing. Wed. I will put the stuffing together, season the turkey and peel and put the yams together. Well, you get the idea. Have a great Thanksgiving and keep up your fantastic work! I just started GTX and your post is inspiring! Hope you are doing well. Just finished second round. The steroids are keeping me 'up' for now! I find I am craving carbs which is completely different than my last chemo when I couldn't eat anything!
