Percy,
This is really interesting. Cant wait to see hiw this kind of approach may apply to CC. My 88 year old Mom is in remission from bladder cancer after immunotherapy using the tuberculosis bacterium. They woukd flood her bladder w liquid containing inactive TB. have her hold it for a couple hours before urinating. this triggered immune response to attack bladder linkng (source of induced infection) which would attack and kill the cancer cells too.  So cool!

Hi,
I think immunotherapy will be the next good thing for cancer treatment in the future. I think if it can use together with systemic chemotherapy like chemo-sensitizing radiation that are using now, the benefits will be much clear in both the short and long term. ( like using vaccines and build up the immunity for cancer while the patient is in remission and use adoptive cell therapy like TIL for patient who have metastatic ,unresectable cancer) .

God bless.

Re: Advance in Cancer Immunotherapy ---Vaccines and Adoptive Cell Therapy

Thank you Percy. Fascinating. I have a degree in molecular biophysics and when I got cholangio and started researching treatments I could not imagine we were not further along. (I went on in economics and then ended up working professionally as a musician so I was out of the field for many years). Thank you so much for all your posts.

Re: Advance in Cancer Immunotherapy ---Vaccines and Adoptive Cell Therapy

Hi, Holly,
You are the lucky few that can have surgery by Dr. Kato due to the fact that you responded to the chemotherapy so well and so soon to allow you such amazing opportunity to have surgery and radioembo to follow. You are truly God's Grace in action.
From molecular biophysics to professionally musician ,and had studied economics in between  shows the adaptability and determination you have been in your genes; well fitted to research , fight and help others in the same situation as us.
BTW, may I ask what instrument you play, I played French horn in high school but now I completely forgetting  how to play again.
I love to hear your assessment  about the radioembo experience you had after you had the CT scan done .
I will be in DC on 4/5-6 and if you have time , I would like to meet you to see how things going.
God bless.

Re: Advance in Cancer Immunotherapy ---Vaccines and Adoptive Cell Therapy

Thank you for your uplifting and kind words, Percy! I am a violinist, a teacher and lover of chamber music, and I also play a little piano for myself. Music has always been my life, and my students my joy. I take them from 3 or 4 years old through high school. I am passionate about them and about bringing along the next generation of chamber music players! Sadly, since I have CC I find my energy so drained that I have had to reduce the size of my studio and kept only the most advanced students. I just feel my life force goes to them and I need to be selfish and keep more for myself these days. You know it is so hard to fight this cancer.
I would very much love to meet you and yes I will be here on  friday during the day this coming week April 5th. I have tentative plans to be away on saturday so friday would be best, but I might be here saturday if I am too sick from chemo to go away. (you know how you never know with this business!) Please call me at home 202-333-0401 or on my cell 202-907-3568. I live right in the city near American University (northwest DC).
I will go post right now about my experiences in February. I have been too tired until now but I do think my experiences might be useful to someone else.
