John has been on mytomacin and xeloda for 2 months. We just got his first CT scan since the new chemo and ALL his tumors have shrunk to half their size!!! God is great!!!! I have been pouring my heart out in prayer, as well as you all have been and it looks like He has answered.

I am SO happy for you both! Always remember that every case is unique and different, and that some people do very well for a very long time-- there's no reason why John shouldn't be one of them!

Charlene, I'm so happy to see something is working for John! Basically that is how I've managed to keep puttin along. If something is not working change to something else if it does not reduce or maintain it is time to change. Great positive news.

Great news for you and John. We are so anxious to start chemo on Joe and just waiting for the bilirubin to come down a little more. He will do xeloda and Gemcitibine. Praise God for answered prayer. Mary Anne
John just had another round of chemo. It gets harsher every time. The first 2 days following were the roughest this time. Thank God for anti nausea meds and pain pills.
I have great hope he will go into remission with this chemo in the next round. If the tumors shrank so drastically with just 2 treatments hopefully they will be gone with 2 more treatments.
I have a question about chemo tho. Has anyone had any side effects of unreasonable anger toward family members?
John has been very argumentative (sp) and actually verbally abusive the last few days.
I'm wondering if this is something caused by the chemo or should I be calling the Dr. and telling her?

It might be John just feels bad. I am a real cranky so and so when I dont feel good. If I am in pain, watch out! So maybe it is a physical sympton causing an emotional response. You did post earlier (if I remember right), that John didnt always take his pain meds when he was supposed to or needed them. If this is still the case, you might have your answer.

Charlene.... It certainly does cause some outbursts. It effects the central nervous system and makes you very irritable. I warned my wife ahead of time and apologized so many times. I felt so bad afterwards. I have even loss my patience in Walmart and my wife has more than once took my arm and lead me out of the store and apologizing telling the clerks I was on some real tough medications. I know when I'm doing it, but I just have to get it out. So now I go to store like 5-6 AM when no one is around. When at a large gatherings my wife will hear me starting to get frustrated at something and she will hold my arm like going down the wedding isle and rub my arm with her other hand and it distracts me enough to stay closed mouth. I'm not a raving lunitic by any means but I have gotten raised Tone and spoke my mind. I don't seem to have much anger anymore just frustration and I take myself out of the situation. So if your Doctor says no, then he needs to take it for awhile and see how his nerves respond to this chemical. Any med that alters your central nervous system can cause frustration, stress, depression, nerves, jumpiness, I have so much nerve damage now, that I have uncontrollable twicthing and jerks. Maybe if This chemo chews up enough nerves the CC cells will stop growing? The list goes on. Wishing you guys the Best!
