Topic: Chronic Hives

Hi everyone,
This is the last test the Allergist ran for my chronic hives. I asked for this test after doing some research. As you can see under 10 is normal and I am over 35. The allergist said she doesn't know what to do so she wants to refer me to a Dermatologist for a possible skin biopsy. I already have one autoimmune disease and my mother had four.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
I am so miserable and frustrated.
Lisa

disease.

Oh Lisa,
I am so sorry about the itchy hives.  I have no suggestions but I hope others will have something to say that will help.

Re: Chronic Hives

I wish I had more to add. Sounds like it's time to move on from the allergist to an autoimmune disease specialist. I am praying for relief for you. This is just too awful. xox

Re: Chronic Hives

I saw a new doctor today and he did four punch biopsies of my hives. The stitches stay in till next week and the results should be back then as well. The biopsy results should help determine the type of autoimmune disease.
Hopefully getting closer to a diagnosis and proper meds.

Re: Chronic Hives

Wow, Lisa, more biopsies! It's good the new dr is looking even deeper into the problem. I sure wish you could find relief from this. I met a gal with similar condition triggered by cold believe it or not. Anyhow, I thank you for your thoughtfulness in calling and praying for my sister and I. I will continue to do the same for you! Re: Chronic Hives

I am back on prednisone today. Last night my eye swelled shut and my lips and cheeks look an ad for Botox gone bad. Thank you all for your thoughts.

Re: Chronic Hives

Finished ten days or prednisone and hives came back two days after finishing steroids. The biopsy came back negative for vasculitis. They have increased my doxypin to 50 mg in the am and 50 mg at night and then I take Benedryl about 4 times a day. I am covered in hives. I don't know what to do next. I am miserable. Help!
