Topic: Mom's hard fought battle is over

My Mother passed away peacefully shortly after 11 pm on 9/30 as I held her hands in mine and told her how much we all loved her and will miss her. It was the hardest thing I ever did, but I am grateful that I was able to be with her as she passed into heaven. Her fight was truly an inspiration and I hope I can be half as strong as her! Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. Our family has asked for donations to this foundation in her name. Please we must find a cure!!!

Letter from Heaven  by Ruth Ann Mahaffey

To my dearest family some things I'd like to say
But first of all to let you know that I arrived okay,
I'm writing this from Heaven. Here I shall dwell with God above
Here, there's no more tears of sadness. Here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy because I'm out of sight
Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through
God picked me up and hugged me and He said "I welcome you,
It's good to have you back again,
you were missed while you were gone,
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
God gave me a list of things that he wished for me to do
And foremost on the list was to watch and care for you
And when you lie in bed at night, the days chores put to flight
God and I are closest to you . . in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth and all those loving years
Because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears
But do not be afraid to cry, it does relieve the pain
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
One thing is for certain though my life on earth is o'er
I'm closer to you now than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb
Together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
When you're walking down the street and you've got me on your mind
I'm walking in your footsteps, only half a step behind
And when it's time for you to go . . from that body to be free
Remember you're not going . . you're just coming here to me.

Re: Mom's hard fought battle is over

I am so sorry to hear of your mother's passing.  This is a horrible disease and I, personally, thank you for asking for donations to this foundation in memory of your mom.  We must bring awareness and funding to cholangiocarcinoma so others don't have to go through what your mom and family has gone through.

Peace and comfort to you and your family.

Mary

Thank you all so much for your support. That letter from heaven poem is so touching and made me feel better. I think I will print it up and give it to my Dad and his grandchildren. xoxoxo

Re: Mom's hard fought battle is over

Donellalu, I also have one for your Dad, this is my favorite from Mom to Dad:

If I should be the first to go,
And leave you alone, my Dear,
Let not your heart be lonely,
Nor in your eyes a tear.
Grieve not for me, my Darling,
I’ll not be far away,
With petals of love and tenderness,
I’ll pave for you the way.
To join me in our sanctuary,
And ne’er again we’ll part.
Grieve not for me, my Darling,
I live within your heart.
Take joy again in living,
As you did in years gone by;
God knows what of he’s doing,
And not be questioned why.
Grieve not for me, my Darling,
My life with you on earth
Each moment filled with happiness,
And love so few be worth.
I’ll be waiting for you Sweetheart
Where skys are ever blue,
With eager heart and open arms
Patiently, for you.
Grieve not for me, my Darling,
May faith and my love keep.
Your soul filled with contentment
Eternally, I sleep.

Re: Mom's hard fought battle is over

I am so very sorry for your loss. Your mom  sounds like a special lady. I lost my dad 9/13/13. We were all by his side too. He too was a fighter. I so hope they find a cure for this horrible disease. The loss can be unbearable. Sending you prayers at this difficult time.

Re: Mom's hard fought battle is over

Dear Donellalu,

I am sorry that your mum has died.  She will have known you were there with her holding her hand.  My husband is running on Sunday to raise funds for the UK CC charity - you are so right that we need a cure or earlier diagnosis.

Re: Mom's hard fought battle is over

Dear Donnellalu,

I'm so sorry about your mother's passing.  I know how it feels as I lost mine too, almost a year ago.  I wish I had been holding her hand when she passed but unfortuanatly she died alone in ICU.

My heart goes out to you.

Love,

Desiree
