Topic: I wish I had breast cancer!

If I had breast cancer:

I'd get a pink ribbon and lots of pink thingys.

I'd get a lot of sympathy when my hair fell out.

I'd get a lot of support from the "women's support groups".

I'd get a lot of support from the cancer foundations specifically for breast cancer.

But most importantly of all - I'd have a 90% chance of beating it!

But here we are stuck with this stupid rare cancer that doesn't even have a ribbon sad

At least we have cholangiocarcinoma.org - a very exclusive website.

Re: I wish I had breast cancer!

And we have each other! So, I say lets get busy and make ribbons, pins, greeting cards to sell and lets bring attention to ourselves. Lets go on Oprah and lets start screaming until we are heard!!! Oh, you forgot one biggie, if it was another form of cancer we would also have insurance companies on our side. I think part of our frustration is that we need to come out of our closet! But keep your chin up, you never know.....we can put on our boxing gloves and enter the ring, what do you all say?????

But if you had breast cancer, you would have never have met us!

(I too get annoyed that I didnt get an "easy" cancer)

I think we should go green with ribbons and wristbands with gold lettering.  Signifies world champions, shooting for a golden healthy body, instead of a medal.

Re: I wish I had breast cancer!

It is true that having this rare cancer is difficult, if not impossible - having this site is the bright spot in an otherwise gloomy situation. The people are wonderful, brave, caring, and - funny too!

Re: I wish I had breast cancer!

I've often joked to friends that I'm going to start the Bile Duct Cancer Marathon-- I'll be the only runner in it, so I'm guaranteed to win!!

And our ribbons?? Why, bile green, of course!

Peace, hope, and healing to all!

Re: I wish I had breast cancer!

OMG!  IF it was not so sad it would be hysterical. You are the most couragous, wonderful people in the world. I will do the marathon with you if I can walk!!!!!!!!!!  You could definitely give Kathy Griffin a run for the money!!!

I am thinking gold lame outfits, head to toe, people with rare cancers need to make a fashion statement to get noticed!

Re: I wish I had breast cancer!

How about a special hat shaped and colored like a liver with the bile duct tube directed to our mouths and flowing with WATER so we can stay hydrated?  I want a coke!  I want a Sprite!  I want my favorite- Mr. Pibb!  Sometimes I feel if one more person asked me if I'm hydrated, I'm going to snatch every hair from his/her head.

My prayers for all of you,
Sophie

Re: I wish I had breast cancer!

Mr. Pibb...I havent had one of those in donkeys years. Can you still get them?

Re: I wish I had breast cancer!

Yes, only now it's called Mr. Pibb Extra.  It's not as good as Mr. Pibb.  Remember Dr. Pepper in a bottle?  Now there was a soda!

My prayers for all of you,
Sophie

Re: I wish I had breast cancer!

Mr. Pibb?? Never heard of it! They do have Moxie up here in New Hampshire, which strikes me as good word for those fighting CC. But it is nasty stuff!

Anyway -- I agree that I have often lamented having to end up with an Orphan Disease.

We're never gonna be as popular as all those well-known cancers, but we can make our own statements. And to me, what better represents the fight (literally, for our lives) than the Tree of Life? This is a fairly well known symbol, but we should make it our own. Further, it works because it resembles the biliary tree.

Always thinkin',
