Brady Walk for Community Supports CCF
The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation was honored to be selected as one of the featured nonprofits during the 15th Annual Brady Walk for Community, a powerful initiative hosted by the Brady Corporation to uplift organizations making a difference.
For the past 15 years, Brady teams across the country have come together to support local nonprofits doing meaningful work in their communities — and this year, the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation was honored to be among them. Employees at each site champion causes close to their hearts, and this year, Cheryl Marshall, a patient with cholangiocarcinoma and a CholangioConnect mentee, rallied support for CCF through her workplace, GravoTech by Brady in Duluth, Georgia.
Thanks to Cheryl’s incredible advocacy and the enthusiastic support of her colleagues, the Foundation received a generous $10,000 gift from Brady Corporation. These funds will directly support patients, caregivers, and critical research efforts to bring hope and new options to those affected by cholangiocarcinoma.
To offer a more personal look at what this day meant to her, here’s a reflection in Cheryl’s own words:
“Brady is big on supporting the community. I attended the CCF conference in Utah and came back so excited, that I would share everything I learned about the Foundation with whoever would listen. I gained so much knowledge and hope from the conference. Once I learned about the community walk and the employees get to nominate a nonprofit organization, I knew I had to nominate the CCF. I have so many co-workers that have been so supportive of me on my journey with cholangiocarcinoma. Most of my coworkers that knew about my journey emailed or came by my office to let me know they knew I was going to nominate CCF as the recipient for our location, and they would be happy to support me. Once the votes were in, CCF won by 99% out of the organizations that were submitted. They knew this Foundation was dear to my heart and gave me the hope that I so needed.
Since this was the Duluth, GA, 1st Brady Walk, we formed a committee to plan out the activities. I took a personal step to set up a stand to bring awareness to the Foundation, to let people know why it is important to me. I purchased some green and white mints, liver cancer hair ties, liver cancer bracelets, green pins, and I reached out to Kaitlin for some CCF bracelets and pamphlets about the Foundation. I made a balloon arch and purchased some cookies to help attract people to my table. I was so happy and proud that I was helping the Foundation. It was my way of helping to give back to such a great Foundation. I was overwhelmed with joy to see how my coworkers & three people from the CCF community (Phil Baughman, Eric Janeau, and Bill Clark) came to support me with so much love. I pray that this is just the beginning. I will continue to find ways to give back.”
