Join us for our October Mentor & Research Advocate Training featuring Dr. Jona Mata, with Oncogene Vaccination Research at Johns Hopkins.
Dr. Mata will share insights into oncogene vaccination research and its potential role in advancing new approaches to cancer treatment. This session will offer volunteers an opportunity to learn more about this evolving area of research and strengthen their understanding of developments relevant to the cholangiocarcinoma community.

Kim has a master’s degree in counseling and guidance from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Missouri. She has nearly three decades of nonprofit program management and leadership experience. As a rare cancer survivor, Kim understands the healing power of community and connection and is dedicated to ensuring that patients and caregivers receive the support they deserve.
Kim resides in St. Joseph, Missouri, with her mom, two dogs, and a cat. Her three children and two grandchildren are her pride and joy. She’s an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and enjoys watching General Hospital, Food Network, and HGTV. She loves spending time with her friends and dining out.

Claire has over 15 years of experience supporting volunteers and planning events. She began her career working in ministry and loves using her skills at CCF. Claire greatly enjoys the opportunity to equip and encourage others as they use their special skills and unique experiences to positively influence others’ lives.
A native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Claire received her BA in Sociology from Louisiana State University. Shortly after graduating, she moved to Texas for work and loves both states. Claire has an energetic toddler who joyfully consumes her free time. She also has a formerly energetic dog that tries to keep up with the pair.

Cindy has been with CCF since 2018. She initially worked to connect dedicated volunteers to the critically important programs at CCF and now works with CholangioConnect mentors, helping them provide mentorship to patients and caregivers. She is inspired by how CCF community members think of helping others in times of great difficulty. She loves working with immensely uplifting and inspirational individuals who give so much despite the challenge of cholangiocarcinoma.
Cindy lives in Boise, Idaho, and is a wife and mother to four girls and grandmother to one with a granddaughter on the way. Cindy received a Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University in Zoology/Pre-Med and enjoys church service, gardening, and a good dance party.
