A Record-Breaking Year for the 7th Annual Jingle for Janet 5K
On December 21, 2024, a chilly morning at Waterford High School was filled with warmth, laughter, and love as the 7th Annual Jingle for Janet 5K brought together 25 enthusiastic volunteers and 182 spirited runners and walkers. This cherished event, honoring the life and legacy of Janet Parker, is a testament to the enduring power of community and the dedication of her husband, Eric Parker.
Eric, a beloved running coach at Waterford High, pours his heart into this event every year, combining his passion for running with his commitment to keeping Janet’s memory alive. His personal touch makes Jingle for Janet truly special—Eric personally reaches out to hundreds of former students, colleagues, and friends, inviting them to join in this meaningful celebration. One former student, unable to attend this year, shared a heartfelt message of gratitude, saying how much it means to them that Eric continues to foster such a close-knit and connected community through this tradition.
This year’s Jingle for Janet was unforgettable. Together, participants and supporters raised a record-breaking $12,139 for the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation, pushing the total funds raised over the years to an incredible $57,965!
What started as a local gathering has grown into a beloved community tradition, shining a light on Janet’s memory and the resilience of the human spirit. It’s a beautiful reminder of how shared passions can unite us, inspire hope, and make a tangible difference in the fight against cholangiocarcinoma.
Thank you to Eric Parker and everyone who helped make this year’s event the most successful yet. Your dedication brings us closer to a brighter future for cholangiocarcinoma research and patient support.
